ARC Review: DEVOTED by Lexi Blake

Devoted
Lexi Blake
Masters and Mercenaries Series, Book 10.5
1001 Dark Nights Series
Evil Eye Concepts
A woman’s work
Amy Slaten has devoted her life to Slaten Industries. After ousting her corrupt father and taking over the CEO role, she thought she could relax and enjoy taking her company to the next level. But an old business rivalry rears its ugly head. The only thing that can possibly take her mind off business is the training class at Sanctum…and her training partner, the gorgeous and funny Flynn Adler. If she can just manage to best her mysterious business rival, life might be perfect.
A man’s commitment
Flynn Adler never thought he would fall for the enemy. Business is war, or so his father always claimed. He was raised to be ruthless when it came to the family company, and now he’s raising his brother to one day work with him. The first order of business? The hostile takeover of Slaten Industries. It’s a stressful job so when his brother offers him a spot in Sanctum’s training program, Flynn jumps at the chance.
A lifetime of devotion….
When Flynn realizes the woman he’s falling for is none other than the CEO of the firm he needs to take down, he has to make a choice. Does he take care of the woman he’s falling in love with or the business he’s worked a lifetime to build? And when Amy finally understands the man she’s come to trust is none other than the enemy, will she walk away from him or fight for the love she’s come to depend on?

Excerpt
What the hell had she done? Amy managed to walk sedately up the stairs. She was pretty sure he was still watching her.
Him. Flynn.
God, she was blushing at the very thought of him. He was some kind of actor or model. He had to be because that man was flipping gorgeous. He was tall and broad and she’d kissed him.
I would rather have a kiss.
Her heart had threatened to flatline then and there. He’d said it in a low growl that had gone straight past her ears to her female parts, and she’d found herself doing something crazy. She’d gone up on her toes and kissed him but not before she’d really looked at him. There was something about the man, something in his eyes. Something that called to her.
Flynn.
Flynn.
She liked Flynn better than John. Way better. She already had one too many Johns in her world.
What was she doing? She’d already kissed a Dom, and one who was in her training class. How was she going to feel when he got paired up with another sub?
She looked up ahead at the dungeon space they’d designated as the classroom for the night. It looked like there were four women and three men up ahead. She’d known it was a small class, but then Sanctum was pretty selective from what she understood. They tended to take in new members by referral only. She was here because of her sister.
Who did Flynn know?
Maybe he worked for McKay-Taggart. The club had founded around a group of ex-military men who formed a security company. It had been completely private for years, but now they were taking new members since they had a much bigger space.
Apparently the last space had blown up.
Maybe she didn’t want him working for McKay-Taggart. They had dangerous jobs. Maybe he was someone’s brother and he had a perfectly normal, didn’t get shot on a regular basis job.
She didn’t want him to get shot. She kind of wanted to kiss him again.
Focus. She needed to focus on the task at hand and that was not making a complete idiot of herself in front of the class.

4 Stars
Corporate rivals Amy and Flynn take enemies to lovers to a whole new level. Lexi Blake heats the pages with sexiness, heart and humor in Devoted.
Amy has taken the family company from her hard ass father. A woman who has to be in control to the world around her. I loved her. Strong, but yet caring, smart and has a huge heart. A damn fine woman who more than hold her own in the “mans” world she’s in.
An incredibly smart coder, Flynn has taken over his family’s company as well. A Dom in training, who’s commanding, confidant and playing a dangerous game. Flynn learn what the true meaning of keeping your enemies closer really means.
Two people, both lonely in the big game of the world they live in seeking a breath of fresh air. Sanctum should be the release and relief they both need. Opening more doors than just passion and escape, Flynn and Amy discovered themselves and each other. Passionate dominance, humor, bratty sub behavior and excellent banter entertain readers from the first page to the last. I love that Lexi Blake allowed Flynn to have all the information. It made him work twice as hard. The moment it went from wanting to know, to have to have is what makes romance readers read!

ARC Review: Awaken Me by Alex Grayson
in your life? You grieve. You sink so deep in a hole, you can no longer see the
top. All you see is dark. Your life becomes dull and dreary. You withdraw from
your friends, lash out at the ones your closest to, and become so absorbed in
your pain, you feel the only way out is to end it permanently. Your heart no
longer pumps properly and you can never get enough air in your lungs. You
drink, you neglect your health, and you rent dirty hotel rooms with the sole purpose
of ending your pain in them. Guilt eats at you for not being at the one place
you were needed the most. And you become angry because you were left behind.
background, watching me, trying to ‘be there’ for me. But I don’t want her
help. I don’t need her to butt in where she’s not wanted. I just want to be
left alone in my grief. But she not giving up, even when I throw insult after
insult her way. Every time I turn around, there she is. And what’s worse, she’s
starting to make me want things. Things I never thought I could have again.
She’s making me forget the pain and bringing color back into my life with her
fiery red hair, bright green eyes, and the silly faces she makes at herself in
the mirror. But what happens if I let her in? Could I be brave enough to open
myself up, knowing the possibility of having it snatched away again. Once I
know the feeling of touching Chris, of having her heart and soul blend with
mine, I would never survive losing that.
that she could also be the one that could push me other the edge of
self-destruction?
4.5 Stars
Heartbreaking and gut wrenching. A fantastic read.
The fourth and final book of the Jaded Series may just be Alex Grayson’s best work. Awaken Me is an emotional read that cuts raw and deep. Just when you think the heartbreak can’t get any deeper, it smacks you the face with more hurt and anguish.
Nick’s darkness and Chris’s willing light send readers on a blindfolded roller coaster ride of emotions of the lowest lows. Heartbreak and healing. Loss and love. Forgiveness and healing. So, I say take a few deep breaths, grab some tissues and your favorite alcoholic drink. Trust me you will need it.
Ms. Grayson has left a lasting impression on me with her writing. Deep, raw and detailed in a way you can’t stop reading. Not only will I be recommending Awaken Me, but the whole Jaded series for some time to come.

ARC Review: One Hot Summer by Melissa Cutler

One Hot Summer
Melissa Cutler
One and Only Texas, Book 1
St. Martin’s Press
Welcome to Dulcet, Texas, home of the legendary Briscoe Ranch Resort, where one woman will discover that even love is bigger in the Lone Star State…
Celebrity wedding planner Remedy Lane is Hollywood royalty–until a scandal sends her packing to the wilds of Texas. She has a knack for leaving disaster in her wake, but she’s determined to reboot her career at Briscoe Ranch, a luxury resort known for extravagant weddings. Little does she know that weddings don’t happen at the resort without the approval of the town’s cowboy swaggering, too-hot-for-his-own good fire chief, Micah Garrity.
Micah knows trouble when he sees it, and all it takes is one glimpse of Remedy’s princess airs for him to know he’s met his match. Too bad he can’t stop thinking about her–even when she brings about one disaster after another at the resort. He and Remedy clash at every turn, but they can’t stop the sparks flying between them. They come from such different worlds–does love stand a chance or will this fire burn too hot for either of them to handle?

4.5 Stars
Remedy is a spitfire of a city girl. Fun, sassy and will stand up for herself. Even if she’s a total klutz. She’s hardworking and persistent. One of the things I like most about her is she took the hard road even though she didn’t have to. A cushy life could’ve been had but instead she got sweaty and the Texas heat.
Micah is a good ol country boy. No, make that man. Proud of his self proclaimed redneck status. A man who will stand his ground and put others before himself. He’s the town hero. The man harbors ill feeling toward those whom I call the rich and snobby. He’s a good loyal man and protective of his town. Until his marbles get rolling when a snarky ray of California light comes into his life.
Anyone who knows me, knows that Cowboy reads are not my first choice. Every once in awhile a title catches me and I have to dive in. One Hot Summer was the perfect read at just the time I need it. Fun and feisty with a lot of snark and humor. The sexual tension was so fun, playful and intense. Remedy and Mason are each other’s yin to yang. Both overflowing with personality. Their chemistry is hot and tests both their limits. Emotional and funny balanced with amazing passion that will leave you as hot as the Texas heat. One Hot Summer is my first Melissa Cutler read. I am very impressed.

ARC Review: Dirty Sexy Inked by Carly Phillips and Erika Wilde
Dirty Sexy Inked (Dirty Sexy Series Book 2) by Carly Phillips and Erika Wilde
Date of Publication: April 5, 2016
Blurb

Breaking hearts is what wild and rebellious Mason Kincaid does best. Hit it and quit it is his motto, and with his bad boy reputation and tattoos, he doesn’t lack for female companionship. Until one hot night with the one woman he swore he’d never touch becomes an all consuming addiction he can’t kick. Katrina Sands has been his best friend for years, but now that he knows what she feels like, and tastes like, there is no going back to being just friends. Hot, dirty sex has never felt so good…or so right.
Available From

Katrina and Mason have been best friends since their early teens. They’ve been through each other’s highs and lows, and know most of the mental and physical scars each other carry. They have become a sanctuary for each other in their crazy messed up world. As the years passed a healthy dose of sexual tension is riding alongside their friendship. Causing life to become terribly miserable for one while the can’t seem to figure out what’s causing animosity.
Oh my goodness! Get ready for page scorcher. Mason and Katrina are amazing together. Friends to lovers is one of my favorite tropes, Dirty Sexy Inked hits it perfectly. Mason and Katrina’s friendship was portrayed beautifully on the pages. The transition to lovers is what made the story. Sexual tension so thick there are no boundaries once it’s released. Heartbreaking moments and fear make Dirty Sexy Inked a deep and emotional read. While chemistry, Mason’s dirty mouth and uninhibited passion make this a book you won’t be able to put down. I absolutely love this book. I can’t wait to see what Carly Phillips and Erika Wilde has in store for us with the last Kincaid brother.

“WE’RE OFF TO Las Vegas, Kitty-Kat,” Mason Kincaid said as he rubbed his hands together in anticipation. “Sin City is the perfect place to get down and dirty and have some fun. What kind of trouble do you think we can get into while we’re there?”
Katrina Sands buckled her seat belt and settled more comfortably in the first-class leather seat next to Mason—her best friend since they were fourteen and freshmen in high school. She wasn’t at all surprised that he was already making a mental list of all the wild and reckless adventures that awaited him in a no-holds-barred place like Las Vegas. Mason Kincaid was a rule breaker, a thrill seeker, and a self-indulgent bad boy who was all about pleasure and instant gratification. From everything she’d heard about the city that never slept, he’d be right in his element.
Oh, joy, she thought with a resigned sigh. It wasn’t as though she was a prude. Far from it. She just wasn’t thrilled about watching her best friend’s man-whoring ways in action in Vegas. She spent enough time seeing it up close and personal on a day-to-day basis.
She turned her head and met Mason’s bright blue gaze. “You do realize that this trip isn’t all about you and your dick, right? That we’re heading to Vegas because your brother Clay is marrying Samantha?” she asked, reminding him of that one important detail.
The corners of his mouth curved with an indulgent grin. “Of course I realize my brother is strapping on the old ball and chain tomorrow afternoon. But that doesn’t mean the entire weekend is going to be all wedding, all the time. In fact, tonight Levi and I plan to take Clay out to make sure he spends his last evening as a bachelor in style.”
Which gave Mason the perfect opportunity to carouse for a willing female to take back to his hotel room for the night. It’s what Mason did. For as long as she’d known him, he’d had a hit-it-and-quit-it motto when it came to women, and he always made sure they knew the score up front. He didn’t make promises or do commitment or anything longer than a one-time fling.
And each time Katrina watched it happen, a little bit of hope died inside of her. The hope that one day Mason would see her as more than just a best friend and the woman who managed to keep his personal and professional shit together. But the man was oblivious to her deeper feelings for him, and she wasn’t willing to tell him and risk certain painful rejection. It was much easier, and safer, keeping them both squarely in the friend zone.
She’d known him for twelve years, and had truly come to believe that Mason Kincaid didn’t have the ability to commit to any single woman. And it really wasn’t hard for her to figure out why considering the kind of childhood he’d had—no father figure to speak of and a mother who cared more about her next fix than her own kids. Mason might be a master at giving off a carefree, I-don’t-give-a-crap attitude, but Katrina was one of the few people who knew just how much pain and resentment that laid-back demeanor really masked.
The commercial plane they were taking to Las Vegas finished the boarding process, and one of the cabin crew started closing the overhead luggage bins, while another made an announcement to set all electronic devices to airplane mode. A pretty brunette flight attendant stopped next to Mason’s aisle seat and set her hand on his shoulder.
He glanced up at her, and the woman smiled, her complexion flushing a bit as he turned all that potent male sex appeal her way. Yeah, Mason had that kind of breathtaking effect on women. Between his gorgeous features, that sexy, panty-dropping smile, and his sleeves of bad boy tattoos that wrapped around both muscled arms, he was an irresistible force to the female gender.
And the jerk knew it, too, and didn’t hesitate to use that charm to his advantage.
ARC Review: Bound For You by Jayne Rylon

Bound For You
Jayne Rylon
Men in Blue Series, Book 6
Ben has lived through hell. He only survived captivity and torture by the brutes who’d been attempting to develop Sex Offender, a potent aphrodisiac used as a date rape drug, because of the guy he met—and fell in lust with—in the drug lord’s dungeons.
Ryan became Ben’s roommate after they escaped. His nearness is constantly tempting Ben to force Ryan to submit to his dark desires. Disgusted by how similar that makes him to their captors, he’s managed to hold off so far. How long can he keep his cravings for Ryan’s sexy body at bay?
On top of that, they both seem to be falling for the same woman. If Ben has reservations about unleashing his sexual appetites on Ryan then that goes double for Shari, who is entirely too sweet and inexperienced for either of them. Or so Ben thinks.
When Shari teams up with Ryan to change Ben’s mind, it seems like Ben might consider turning their three-way fling into something serious. Until a threat to Ben’s niece reminds them that it’s not always possible to keep those you love safe. After losing his sister in the Sex Offender scandal, Ben might never be ready to take that risk again.
None of them could have realized they were bound for something greater than a traditional partner in life, but Shari and Ryan are sure the three of them will benefit from the love of not one, but two, strong, giving soul mates who can help them leave the darkness of their past behind.
Will they be able to convince Ben that living fully is better than living cautiously?

4.5 Stars
Ben is a dominate alpha to the core. Stubborn, hard headed and extremely protective. Ryan is sweet and a more than willing to give submissive. A strong personality, that allows him to share his mental and physical strength with others. Shari’s presence invokes balance. She’s a take no crap kind of woman, and will do anything in her power to help. The trio share of a past tragedy that has bonded them tighter than friends. An experience that has left scars, emotional turmoil, questioning of friendships and lustful desires.
Family is not always about who you’re born to, it’s about the people in your life that love you unconditionally no matter what. The Men in Blue through tragedy, triumph, pleasure and pain have come together to make a family stronger than blood can bond. Jayne Rylon flawlessly continues the bonds of friendship and love with Bound to You. Emotionally deep characters, a twisty plot, pure erotic passion and healing hearts. Jayne Rylon gives readers a full array of emotions in Bound to You. A sexy and raw read that will have you panting.

Review: Bennett by Seraphina Donavan
Bennett
Seraphina Donavan
Bourbon & Blood #1
Mia Darcy plays by the rules, and her Daddy, Samuel, for better or worse has made them all. She takes care of her ailing mother, she manages PR for the family’s distillery, Fire Creek. And every day she quietly resents the fact that he stepped in and kept her from being with the one man she loved… a man who still lives there in their small town of Fontaine, Kentucky and who haunts her every minute of the day, waking or asleep.
Bennett Hayes has loved Mia his whole life, and for one brief moment, when they were young and full of hope, it seemed like even the long history of bad blood between their families wasn’t enough to keep them apart. But he’d been wrong. Mia never showed the night they were supposed to run away together and when he confronted her about it, she broke his heart.
But fate and circumstance throw them together again and the fire that raged between them at eighteen is even hotter now. The burn is inevitable. But there are forces at play, people on the periphery of their lives whose agenda goes far beyond just keeping them apart… they want Mia dead and will stop at nothing to make that happen.

4 Stars
Mia does what is expected of her. She plays by the rules her father has set , takes care of her mother and helps save the family business from going under. A good woman who is caught in the rut of her father’s lies.
Bennett is what I like to call the southern bad boy. He’s sexy as sin and exceptionally good with his hands. He’s loyal to the core with those he considers family and friends. Bennett’s heart as also stayed loyal to one woman. A woman he can’t have, shouldn’t want, and never seems to be far from his mind.
Family drama, forbidden romance and a good dose of Southern charm.
Feuding families, old money, long time scandals and second chance love. Personalities really stand out giving not only the primary but the secondary characters flair and spunk. Mia and Bennett’s tension, loyalty and passion pull the reader into this suspenseful and emotional story. Sound writing with a good bit of humor, twisty plot and fun characters, Ms. Donavan hits it all in the first book of the Bourbon and Blood Series, Bennett. I am very much looking forward to reading more from Ms. Donavan.

ARC Review: Rogue by Patricia Rasey
Rogue
Patricia Rasey
Sons of Sangue Series, Book 4
E- Book
Self Published: February 23, 2016
Vampire MC member Anton “Rogue” Balan, aka Blondy, has turned his back on the powerful Sons of Sangue, betraying the brotherhood he once considered his family. Or so his vampire brethren think. Changing his appearance, his persona, and signing up with rival gang, the Devils, Rogue has gone deep undercover to catch the La Paz Cartel’s kingpin. Having lost a woman he once thought he would spend eternity with, Rogue now feels he has nothing left to lose . . . that is until a temptation named Kimber James invades his dangerous world.
Strait-laced Kimber has a problem and his name is Anton Balan. After an impulsive night of passion with him more than a year ago, the small-town librarian still has the hots for the sexy biker next door. She can’t deny her desire for Anton, even though she suspects he’s hiding a secret even darker than his affiliation with an outlaw MC. As for Rogue, no matter how much he tries to refuse the scorching need he has for Kimber—as much as his duty depends on it—he’s powerless to deny his rising feelings for her. And when a blindside by an enemy he once trusted puts Kimber’s life at risk, Rogue’s tarnished honor is put to the ultimate test.

5 Stars
Anton “Rogue” Balan, also known as Blondie, has just become my new favorite of the Son. The sweet Alpha vampire, as I like to call him, is as sexy and build as the Road King he rides. Sweet, kind and caring Anton makes you melt in more ways than one. Don’t let that fool you, the man can take you faster than the blink of an eye. Internal struggles, mimicking betrayal and longing have changed Anton. Even in what could be called his darkest hour his loyalty, devotion, and selflessness never waver from his true home.
Kimber is a girl next door type with personally and spunk. Putting her in a class all her own. A good and sweet woman who can stand her ground. Kimber is as straight laced as they come, however she does have this sultry and playful side that you don’t see on the surface. She’s a fun and extremely likable character.
Patricia Rasey’s fourth installment of the Son of Sangue series, Rogue, has just become my favorite of the series. Sorry Gypsy! Anton has upped the game! Action pack and emotionally driven, Patricia Rasey once again has readers hanging on for dear life while going at breakneck speeds. The stench of betrayal thickens the air, danger is to close to home, secrets unfold as the bonds of Brotherhood are tested to the core. Chemistry, compassion, passion and lust have infused a desire for things that should not be. Making wants and needs walk a fine line in the Sons dangerous world. And that’s just the beginning. Sexual tension, suspense and extreme loyalty make the foundation for a fast paced story with a twisty plot that pull you in and keeps the pages turning to the wee hours of the morning. Fantastic storytelling with the perfect balance of romance and suspense, Ms. Rasey delivers a damn fine book.
As a huge fan of the Sons of Sangue series, I recommend that you read the stories in order to fully benefit the this amazing world she has created. Rogue is a highly recommended book as is the entire Sons of Sangue series.

MacKenzie Security has vowed to save the girl. Olivia can find anything or anyone. Rush can get anyone out. As the clock winds down on the girl’s life, can they fight the past, a ruthless madman and their explosive passion to get the job done?

5 Stars

All alpha and is able to get what he wants, how he want it. A man not to be messed with. His personal demons weigh heavily on his psyche. His exquisite body, quick tongue and no nonsense ways leave readers in thrall of Atticus.
Olivia -Livvy- Rutledge-Cairn is one kick ass lady. Born a princess Livvy found within herself a skill set make her a Master Thief. There is nothing this woman can’t track down and fine. She’s as beautiful and sexy as she is cunning and dangerous. This sensual woman can more than handle herself.

Sinful, addicting, and unapologetically alpha, these men are every woman’s erotic daydream … And your ultimate dirty fantasy.

Clay Kincaid knows he’s more a sinner than a saint. Especially when it comes to women. With a rough and damaged past that has left him jaded, he doesn’t do committed relationships. But he does like sex—the hotter and harder, the better. He likes it fast and filthy, which is why he refuses to even touch someone as sweet and guileless as Samantha Jamieson. Until he discovers that she likes it just as down and dirty as he does. Let the sinning begin . . .

4 Stars
Clay is the most delicious kind of sinner. Hard, commanding and rough, the best kind of Alpha man. He’s also protective, generous and beyond loyal. A provider and protector. He truly is a sexy dirty Saint.
Samantha was so much more than I expected. She wanted more than the rich girl lifestyle that her parents had planned for her. Walking away from all she knew was a brave step. She built a new life with a little help and opened a door of uninhibited passion that now she craves.
The writing team Carly Phillips and Erika Wilde will send tingles down your spine with Dirty Sexy Saint. A fun and sexy read with mad amounts of personality and depth. A cast of unique, well developed characters grace the pages adding a flair and family feel to the book. Dirty Sexy Saint surprise me by not being story I expected. It was more. 5 Stars
I had the wonderful fortune of being introduced to Ms. Briscoe’s work by a fellow reader and friend who I trust when she says need to read this. Through the journey of her stories I have gotten to see Ms. Briscoe grow tremendously as a writer. In a little under two years she has made her way into one of my favorite authors spots. With her latest work, Ms. Briscoe has truly stepped to a new level that far exceeds any expectations I have come to develop in her work.
Sketch is raw, real and deep. This is a book that hits close to home in a big way. Falling in love is the easy part, maintaining it is where it gets real. Ms. Briscoe hits it right on with Sketch. Relationships are filled with emotion, both good and bad. Communication is the key to keeping everything level, and as relationships are filled with emotion, both good and bad. Highs and lows. It’s how the couple communicates to get through it. Sketch and Nina’s story is so real it gave me chills as I was reading, and had me looking back on my own feelings in my ten year running relationship. There is no way you will not feel something while reading Sketch. And you will be proud to say #IGOTSKETCHED!
Sketch is Ms. Briscoe’s best work. Her voice as a writer is shining through creating magic with her words. A five star read and a top read for 2016.
