Trading pleasure for information is no way to catch a criminal…or is it?

Their heated interrogation explodes into an unexpected experience none can forget or forego. Commitment-shy Thorn is sure their “deal” is nothing but pure, sizzling lust. Cam knows it’s more. But Brenna is keeping dangerous secrets, one a mafia boss is intent on learning—before silencing her forever. While on the run, her past spills out. And when shocking desires are revealed, there’s no turning back…

Can the guys come together to protect and serve the woman they want to claim for good before the threat ends her?

4 Stars

This book is intense on so many levels. From page one the action is in your face and bam, it keeps coming at you. A complex situation that gives a fast-moving plot and multi-layered characters with intense personalities.

Thorn is raw, aggressive and very alpha. Being a bounty hunter is very fitting for him. Thorn is the love them and leaves them, type of guy.  Cameron is as observant as he is a charmer. He had a way with people that makes them melt into his hands. He has finesse and patients and knows the meaning of being sensitive and how to use sensitivity. Cam’s way with words is a gift. Brenna is a woman trying to get answers to questions she’s been asking for a lifetime. One man connects these three people and is the first link in a fast chain of events that changes each of them down to the soul.

Dirty and Dangerous is a quick-moving, action-filled, intensely intimate and hot as sin itself.  Shayla Black once again draws readers in with raw emotions, a great story and some wicked romance that just may leave readers panting.  Thorn, Cam, and Brenna together found a way to help, save, free and understand and love. I loved the open-mindedness and the natural progression in which the relationship developed. It may have been quick but it gave me goosebumps and chills while reading. Dirty and Dangerous is a male, male, female ménage that is beyond hot.

Almost Just Friends

Jill Shalvis

Wildstone Series, Book 4

Paperback, 384 pages
Expected publication: January 21st 2020 by William Morrow Paperbacks

New York Times bestselling author Jill Shalvis returns to Wildstone with the touching story of finding your place in the world—and the people who make it home.

Piper Manning’s about as tough as they come, she’s had to be. She raised her siblings and they’ve thankfully flown the coop. All she has to do is finish fixing up the lake house her grandparents left her, sell it, and then she’s free.

When a massive storm hits, she runs into a tall, dark and brooding stranger, Camden Reid. There’s a spark there, one that shocks her. Surprising her further, her sister and brother return, each of them holding their own secrets. The smart move would be for Piper to ignore them all but Cam unleashes emotions deep inside of her that she can’t deny, making her yearn for something she doesn’t understand. And her siblings…well, they need each other.

Only when the secrets come out, it changes everything Piper thinks she knows about her family, herself…and Cam. Can she find a way to outrun the demons? The answer is closer than she thinks—just as the new life she craves may have already begun.

4.5 Stars

Almost Just Friends is almost too real. Heart and home, trust and sacrifice, hurt and healing wrapped in a tale family and love.

Piper thinks she got herself on the right track. She has a game plan, lots of lists and more than enough will to accomplish the goals she sets. Piper is as fierce and tenacious as they come. Growing up fast, caring for her siblings and trying to make the best of what they had, has given Piper a hard edge, but the woman has a heart like no other. She is not a stranger to sacrifice, and she would sacrifice over and over again for those she loves.

In blows a storm that lights a spark with a stranger, carrying her siblings home and a bucket full of secrets to make Piper’s head spin. Just wanting a new life became something altogether different than what she want. But needed more than she knew. With a handsome Cam knocking on her romance door, her siblings and their respective secrets eating at her, Piper’s new life hands already began.

Almost Just Friends is all about family, those born to you and those you choose to bring in. Hot messes and all. Life is not always easy but those around you make it a lot better. Ms. Shalvis twisted wit and humor with emotion and life’s choices that make people people discover who they are and whom they want to be. Piper and Cam captivate reader with the depth at which they will go and of just who they are. A story you truly don’t want to miss.

THE DEMONICA SERIES RETURNS…

Even if it means destroying himself and setting the world on fire…

4.5 Stars

Larissa Ione has readers on the edge of their seat, turning pages with bated breath just to see the outcome.  Reaper could easily be compared to a shot of adrenaline. Epic and emotional.

Azagoth and Lilith’s story continues with a fast and epic story that underworld didn’t even see coming. Reaper is not a book you can just pick up and completely enjoy the story. Reaper is a true treat for the readers of the Demonica series. Being the 20th book in the series we are reunited with many characters of both good and evil that we have gotten to know in this vast world. The focus couple of a story maybe Azagoth and Lilith but we hear many more voices telling this tale. Ms. Ione takes us on a breakneck tail of love, heartbreak, betrayal and devotion while balancing good and evil. Reaper’s  an epic story that produced many epic emotions from this particular reader. I truly think there’s nothing I can say that’s going to give this book to justice that I believe it deserves. Azagoth and Liliana‘s story is a work of art. I started reading the Demonica series 10 years ago and Ms. Ione has never disappointed me.

Review: Beast by Lexi Blake writing as Sophie Oak

Beast

Lexie Blake writing as Sophie Oak

A Faery Story, Book 2

Published October 15th 2019 by DLZ Entertainment, LLC

Re-released in a second edition. Re-edited but no substantial changes.

A playboy who needs to grow up

Fresh from his latest tabloid scandal, vampire playboy Dante Dellacourt has been given an ultimatum. Either he takes a consort and settles down, or his family will disown him. Unwilling to lose everything he has, he reluctantly agrees to find a wife. Marriage is just another kind of contract, after all. No one said anything about love being a part of the bargain.

An outcast who has only known hardship

Exiled by her pack, Kaja is a werewolf without a home. Her life was never easy in the frozen tundra she grew up in, but it was familiar. Waking up in a foreign landscape, surrounded by bright lights, loud noises, and far too many people has left her overwhelmed. Frightened and with no one to trust, she savagely fights to get free of this strange new world.

A passion strong enough to change them both

Called to defend the gnomes of the marketplace, Dante is almost blinded by the radiant light coming off the fierce werewolf. Kaja glows like no consort he has ever seen. Gorgeous and wild, she calls to him in ways he had not dreamed possible. For Kaja, she finds in Dante a man unlike any she has ever known. They could not be more different, but she finds him irresistible.

In order to claim his werewolf bride, Dante must first discover how to overcome their differences. Will he tame his ferocious beauty, or will she unleash his inner beast?

4.5 Stars

Dante has given himself the reputation of the ultimate player. Perceived by most to only have interest in fun, women and good times. Dante is one of those people that you can’t judge by what he wants you to see. He’s intelligent, loyal and cunning. As Dante’s layers begin to peel away we find a man filled with emotions, determinations and wants he wasn’t ready to admit.

Kaja is primal yet submissive. Rugged Pack life was all she knew, then to be thrown into a world of which nothing is known the beast within her takes survival to an instinctual level. She was an outcast of the pack and something different to the new place she finds herself in. Dante is her alpha. From the moment she finds herself in his presence she sees him as her first. She feels a connection, something that’s unknown to her. Kaja is unique all around. From her sheer nature to the way she tries to adapt for something he’s not quite sure what it is, but she wants it.

Beast was fantastic. Dante was so much more thanI expected. He has some pretty deep layers of emotions. He did what he thought was expected of him only want to find out, those expectations were nothing but a push for him to find what he truly wanted him his life. Kaja and Dante together is something truly unique. I love the way their connection and bond formed, developed and grew into something more than either one of them expected it could be. Two beasts find their balance to their beast with another beast. I truly love this fairy world that Lexi Blake has created. This is not the first time I have kicked myself not discovering these books earlier. I am very happy they have been released and I get to enjoy them now.

Falling With You by Carrie Ann Ryan

Falling With You

Carrie Ann Ryan

Fractured Connections Series, Book 3

Published: July 16, 2019

NYT bestselling author Carrie Ann Ryan concludes a brand new series where second chances don’t come often, and overcoming an unexpected loss means breaking everything you knew.

The day I lost my best friend was the day I realized that I’d been living in the past. I’ve tried to find a way to heal, to mend that break. Somehow, I came through it partially whole. But I know I couldn’t have done that without Aiden Connolly.

The problem is, he once loved my best friend. And now she’s gone, and I refuse to be in that shadow, or worse, a replacement for someone we both loved.

~~

I left them all behind.

My brother.

My family.

My best friend.

And her.

Only Sienna Knight doesn’t realize what she means to me. But before I can make sure she knows, I need to figure out exactly what that is.

 4.5 Stars

Falling With You is an emotional and intimate story of friend to somewhat enemies to lovers. And one I have been waiting for. Sienna and Aiden bickering and banter since the beginning of the series has had these two in my sights.

Aiden is an extraordinary and amazing chef. A man who can make amazing food and has a caring nature that you have to look beyond the layers to see. Aiden is a brute of a man at times but once you get to know him and see beyond the cover, is a man you may have never expected. Aiden is a self proclaimed asshat, but he cares and tries, even if it’s in his own way.

Sienna is a physical therapist extraordinaire. Dedicated to her work and holds the utmost professionalism in what she does. Sienna is a strong and independent, self proclaimed cat woman. To me that just means she has an amazing heart. Sienna is dealing with the loss of her best friend. That loss has shaken not only Sienna’s world but those of her circle as well. Sienna is the type of woman you can count on. A good friend.

I so loved Aiden and Sienna story. A tale that way years in the making. Falling With You is my now favorite read in the Fractured Connections Series. Emotional, deep and intimate on a level that is different from Ms. Ryan’s other works.  Sometimes loss draws people together and that is what happens for Aiden and Sienna. Although they had a friendship along the way they became bickering enemies. To allowing each other to divulge their secrets and show their wounds that are soul deep. To finding something together they have never and making something they can’t let go of.

Bust out the tissues ladies. You just may need them.

Falling With You is emotional and deep but leaves you feeling quite good at the end.

Release Day Review: Trick by Laramie Briscoe

Author: Laramie Briscoe
Genre: Contemporary/New Adult Romance
Release Date: January 13, 2017
Blurb
A forced sentence leads to a reckless passion…….Hadley When my husband walked out on me over a year ago, it devastated me. When the divorce papers came, it killed me. When we had to sell our house, it broke me.

But then he moved in with his new flavor of the month and told our daughter his new woman wasn’t into children. That pissed me off.

Now Riley feels abandoned, and I can’t make it better; no matter how hard I try. I’m desperate to help her adjust to the loss of a male figure in her life. The companion program that matches adults up with children who have loneliness and abandonment issues is my last hope.

The counselors tell me he’s doing community service hours, and I ask to sit in on his meetings with Riley. The minute I see him astride the matte black Harley, I know neither my nor Riley’s life will ever be the same again.

Trick

Community Service. Two words I should be thankful for, but I’m not. I resent the hours it’s away from building my business. The two previous kids I’d been paired up with didn’t work out because their mothers were more interested in getting in my bed. This next match with a little girl is my last hope. Unless this kid works out, I’m destined to serve time.

When they push her into the room wearing pink converse with a black dress, her crazy curls barely held back by the barrette in her hair, and studious glasses on her face, I can tell she’s scared – of new people, of change, of being pushed aside. Something inside of me breaks, and I want this girl to feel wanted again.

What I’m unprepared for is meeting her mom. The second our hands touch, there are fireworks, bright lights, and a picture of the future I could one day have. The future I’ve never allowed myself to wish for.

Community service becomes more than a chore, more than time I resent for being taken away from me. In the months that follow, I realize they’re just like me: they’ve been abandoned, left behind by the world, forgotten by those who should love them.

Thanks to the one last hope in both our lives – we found the light in the darkness we’d been searching for.

Little did he know the companion program his community service requires him to take part in, would change his life in more ways than one. The hard as steel, tatted up, panty melting man has a heart of gold and the . patience of a saint. Trick’s exterior appearance is just an added bonus to the amazing qualities of this truly wonderful man .
Sweet, slow burning and deep!
A second chance at life, trust, leaps of faith, listening to your heart and unconditional love make up the amazingly emotional story that is Trick!  I have been very fortunate seeing Ms. Briscoe’s writing develop and grow from almost the beginning. In the last year I seen her talent take some amazing steps forward. Trick, in my mind, is a different type of book for her, one which I absolutely adored. It also shows the growth in her talent for weaving work together not just writing, but creating a story. Ms. Briscoe characters are seem so real and reader are able to relate with them on many levels.    Every emotion is beautifuly protraded perfectly.  Allowing the reader to not just read the story but feel it as well.

Deep emotions line every page creating a story that the reader not only gets lost in, but gets attached to. Likable and lovable characters draw you in, make you laugh and feel.  Slow building passion that add fuel to the fire of passion for Trick and Hadley.  Sexy, hot and passionate with a ton of heart.  If you are looking for a book that is low on angst and drama but will hit your heart hard, Trick by Laramie Briscoe is the read for you.

Wendy is snarky and sassy. A woman who gives a bit of her heart in everything she does. However her dysfunctional upbringing has left her view of relationships hollow. As an honorary member of the Fitzpatrick’s, Wendy learned what having a real family is like.
Aeden is cocky and all alpha. A man who daily puts his life on the line to others safe. He too has an different view when it comes to relationships. He’s devoted to his friends and family.
Aeden and Wendy have been building a long burning tension for years. At her best friends wedding it becomes known she’s leaving for six months. In a moment of real life, prior thoughts and opinions were changed in the blink of an eye. One night left a never ending memory, gracing each other’s thoughts daily.
Wendy and Aeden are the definition of two people that were meant to be together. Her independence and his cockiness have created a sexual tension that is explosive. Their interactions with each other bring out the best of both of their personalities. Aeden and Wendy are both strong characters with charisma and depth. They complement each other in the best ways.
Melissa Schroeder’s AT LAST is sassy and sexy. The Fitzpatricks are going to give the Santinis competition.

ARC Review: Obsession by Ann Mayburn

obsession

Synopsis

This is a STANDALONE dark(ish) erotic romance with insta-obsession between two damaged soulmates(no cheating-HEA-no cliffhanger)

Hannah

All my life, I’ve only wanted one thing: someone to love me and someone who will let me love them in return. This seems like a simple request, but I was born to parents who wished I had died of childhood leukemia, instead of my younger sister, and who have ignored me no matter how much I’ve tried to please them. I’m starved for affection, addicted to the feeling when someone cares about me, which has led to a love life filled with either boys I’ve scared off, or men all too eager to take advantage of me. I thought I would never find a man who could feed my craving for constant attention–and then I met Leo. He fills the void inside of me, haunts my dreams, and does things to me in bed that are so good, they’re probably illegal. I can only pray I don’t scare him off once he figures out just how needy I really am.

Leo

There are very few people in this world I’ve ever been able to form an emotional attachment to, but the moment I saw Hannah, I knew she was mine. We were bound together by fate, our paths crossing first as children, then as adults, each time marking me. She doesn’t know it but I’ve been watching her for a year now, studying her, stacking the deck so when I do make my move, there’s no way she’ll ever escape me. But my world is a harsh, cruel place, and the cartel I work for demands absolute loyalty and trust…a loyalty Hannah has yet to earn in the dangerous eyes of my employers. There is only one way to ensure Hannah’s absolute devotion, and I hope that she doesn’t hate me forever when she finds out that not only have I brainwashed her into loving me, but that I don’t feel an ounce of guilt about doing it. She’s mine, only mine, and I’m keeping her forever.

Warning: This story features a rough and demanding Dom who’s completely devoted to bringing his baby girl pleasure through such unconventional means as spanking, mild BDSM, D/S, roleplaying, and various other forms of wicked kinkery.

AboutTheAuthor

With over forty published books, Ann is Queen of the Castle to her husband and three sons in the mountains of West Virginia. In her past lives she’s been an Import Broker, a Communications Specialist, a US Navy Civilian Contractor, a Bartender/Waitress, and an actor at the Michigan Renaissance Festival. She also spent a summer touring with the Grateful Dead-though she will deny to her children that it ever happened.

From a young Ann has had a love affair with books would read everything she could get her hands on. As Ann grew older, and her hormones kicked in, she discovered bodice ripping Fabio-esque romance novels. They were great at first, but she soon grew tired of the endless stories with a big wonderful emotional buildup to really short and crappy sex. Never a big fan of purple prose, throbbing spears of fleshy pleasure and wet honey pots make her giggle, she sought out books that gave the sex scenes in the story just as much detail and plot as everything else-without using cringe worthy euphemisms. This led her to the wonderful world of Erotic Romance, and she’s never looked back.

Now Ann spends her days trying to tune out cartoons playing in the background to get into her ‘sexy space’ and has accepted that her Muse has a severe case of ADD.

Obsession is a book that involves a kink that is a line pusher for me. With that being said, Ann Mayburn spun a tail that I couldn’t put down.

Hannah is a beautiful, yet needy woman. With the loss of his sister and parents who basically forgot she existed, love was something missing in her life. Causing her to latch on feeling of love anyway she. Ultimately hurting herself by being too clingy. She’s a woman that can admit her faults, is beyond caring and willing to do just about anything for the people she cares for most.

Leo is as sexy as he is scary. He is a force to be reckoned with. His presence has grown men shaking in their boots. Leo is the definition of crazy and dangerous all in one. This is a man that will go to any means to get exactly what he wants.

Two f*cked up people have a chance meeting at the darkest moments of their respective lives, making an impression on the other. Fast forward years later to another one of those chance meetings with same f*cked people, but this time the game has changed and this time there is no walking away.

What a flippin story. Ann Mayburn takes the reader on a truly crazy ride. Leo is pretty much a psychopath and Hannah is a borderline stalker. Both have very ugly past that have created the f*cked people they are today. In their crazy world Hannah and Leo fit perfectly. Getting to the together is a carefully put in place plan that is even crazier than the people taking the ride. I could not put this book down.

An engaging plot filled with a web of lies, deceit and love. Amazingly developed characters that keep the reader on the edge of the page wanting more. A kink that is on the borderline for me was written in tasteful, sexy and explorative way that allowed this reader to see it in a different light. Ann Mayburn gets my highest praise with Obsession!

Going Deep is hot, exotic and wickedly naughty.

Tosin is my favorite of the Divemasters. In a group of laid-back man, he is the most laid-back of them all. I love his go with the flow attitude, his continued flirtatious manner and his commanding but fun and playful nature. He is the ultimate bachelor.

Kahori is an amazing artist and native to Cook Islands. A woman who has traveled a bit, but stays on the island for family. A sweet, kind and caring woman with an inner vixen who gets roused up beautifully.

Kahori and Tosin were made for each other. I loved how they both stumbled over themselves upon meeting.  I loved how the suspense of the book intertwined so much with Tosin and Kahori getting to know each other. Their relationship does happen quickly, however the events surrounding the two of them are eye-opening causing the emotions and passion to flow.

Jayne Rylon gave readers something very special with the DIVEMASTERS series. Ending the series on a very high note. Giving readers a glimpse of what life is like for everyone on board the Divemaster.  Awesome Alpha heroes and they’re amazing women, fun secondary characters, beautiful settings and suspenseful stories that are filled with page turning passion.

I read Going Hard in one sitting. Although I was sad to finish the last few pages Tosin and Kahori story,  along with the rest of the  Divemaster crew, I was more than satisfied with the ending.

Lucas is intense on all levels. The bad boy with a damn good heart. Possessive and demanding in all the right ways. His protectiveness is unstoppable with it comes to Ronnie. I totally loved him.

Ronnie is sassy, fun and feisty. She challenges Lucas on every level and I love it. She see what beyond the surface. She will stand up for herself and make you laugh. She strong and willing to stand beside a damn good man is a crazy world.

Lexxie Couper continues Lucas and Ronnie’s, from The Bad Boy Next Door, story with humor, heart pounding action and intense, raw passion. This one is hot enough to make your toes curl.  A quick read read full of heat and suspense. I really enjoyed Ronnie and Lucas. They keep each other their toes and have a lot of hot fun while doing it. Their chemistry is amazing. Ronnie and Lucas complement each other so well. They are a fun couple that you can’t help but to love. Lexxie Couper showed off her amazing writing skills once again within the pages of The Girl In My Bed.
