Powertools: The Shields Series, Book 5

Kindle Edition

First published August 16, 2022

When Karolena answered an ad for a live-in housekeeper responsible for taking care of at least a dozen guys, she was obviously desperate.

Although she hadn’t realized they were spies and assassins when she accepted the position, it could work out for the best since the Shields’ headquarters might be the only place she’s safe from the evil ex hunting her.

That is, if she doesn’t give in to the two agents that live across the hall who tempt her to do things that could be dangerous to her still healing heart.

Tavish is more than willing to show Karolena a good time so long as that’s as far as it goes. He’s learned the very hard way that it’s fine to sleep with women, or men, so long as you don’t trust them.

That’s only because Tavish’s partner—both in the field and the bedroom—has always made sure his judgement isn’t compromised when they surrender to their non-traditional urges together. Legend is the one person Tavish is certain has his back since he’s proved it over and over on life or death missions yet still, he’s not able to give the man the affection he deserves along with plenty of satisfaction.

So when they find themselves entangled with their housekeeper, and her ties to the mafia, they have to decide whether she’s capable of bringing the three of them together permanently or whether they have to get rid of her before she wrecks them for good.

The next multipartner romance in NYT and USA Today bestselling author Jayne Rylon’s fan-favorite Powertools Universe. Visit your favorite characters or meet new ones in this interconnected why choose standalone in the Powertools: The Shields ménage series.

They were sent to kill him, but fell in love with him instead.

Sola doubted her instincts after her best friend and partner on the Shields security team, Aarav, acted for months like the attraction between them didn’t exist. One wild night on their boss’s private jet proves she was spot on even if she has no idea where their relationship will go from there.

When they’re sent to assassinate the head of a money laundering operation at a brand new casino, Sola looks into the eyes of their target and her gut screams he’s not the source of the evil they’re hunting. Risking everything, Sola steps in between the man she loves and the one they’ve been sent to kill.

Sola’s instant and undeniable attraction to their unintended captive forces them to investigate him further and decide—will they eliminate him, protect him, or entice him to join their intimate partnership?

3.5 Stars

Sola and Aarav are on a mission unlike any that they have been before. Their friendship is something they both treasure yet they both want more and taking that next step has been a difficult one for them both. The mission at hand has all the cards on the table and everyone is seeing clearly. Yet when the target gives you such strong feelings and doubt of what you’re doing sometimes you have to take A step back and look at things for what they are. Cash was the target, not someone that they should’ve cared about or get an instant reaction from. The game is dangerous, once all the facts are no the way it’s played just may be life-changing.

Jayne Rylon combined an emotional journey, a dangerous mission and a love story all in one. Sola and Aarav danced around their chemistry for far too long. They wholeheartedly embraced their passion. Just as they are discovering themselves together, they realized they need something more than they knew. Cash was in a messed situation and two people saw something more inside he didn’t even know he had or wanted or needed.  Together Sola, Cash and Aarav worked hard to find that together their world is right as rain and apart it is no way near the same. Brazen is sexy and emotional. There is nothing like a visit in the Powertools world.

3.5 Stars

The Crew has faced many challenging changes as they have moved themselves to Middletown. Everyone is starting to adjust and settle into their new home except for James who has seemed to have lost a bit of himself as the crew has transitioned into new and different roles.

Pound finds James questioning his role in the crew. Being a part of the crew, his crew, was it for him. Being a foreman is a great job but it’s not what he feels. James hangs up his tool belt and does some soul searching. He tries a few different hats to see what fits, confides in his crew and takes the nudging from a few good friends. The crew is as solid as they have always been and sexy as even. They have embraced the challenge set before them, worked through it and tightened the bonds that they share. With the support and love of his husband, wife and the crew he holds so dear, James works through his funk and finds a way to not only help himself but helping others too.

Pound shows a very unexpected side of a character I thought was extremely solid. James is a loving, pleasing man. Rough when needed yet tender and kind. All of the crew have challenged themselves with the major move and all the crazy things falling upon them. They continue to show that family is more than blood and beyond soul deep. Jayne Rylon delivers sexiness and emotions with the latest from the crew of the Powertools, Pound.

Life has taken on some major changes for the Crew and in this newest installment has Kayla and Dave in the hot seat with Grind.

Change is happening all around the crew and as they are trying to adapt they seem to be getting hit harder. A horrible fire has claimed Kayla’s beloved Bare Natural Resort as its own, learning herself and Dave without a home.  Kayla is not herself while dealing with the loss of her home and dream, the sting of Crew members away in Middletown has hit her hard. Kayla is the definition of calm and this series of events is on the verge of breaking this peaceful woman. Is their bond stretched too thin? Can the crew help heal some of these wounds? Is it time for a change?  Is the Grind of it all too much.

Kayla and Dave are my favorites of the crew. Kayla is so centered and usually so at peace with herself. It was very hard to see her struggling the way she did. It just goes to prove that even the strongest, what seem like most centered people can even lose it. Dave is always so supportive and caring. His willingness is always swoon worthy. Kayla rides a frantic emotional ride within the pages of Grind. With the help of her devoted husband and an unwavering bond of her people, the entire crew takes another step into the next chapter of their lives.

The Crew is back and as sexy as ever.

Jayne Rylon gives us readers a new and emotional Powertools story. Joe is torn between wanting to be closer to his blood relatives while not wanting to leave behind the family he has made. My heart hurt for Joe in so many ways. Finding it hard to talk about and doesn’t wanting to hurt anyone in the process. His love Morgan reminds him what family is and sharing what’s on his mind with her and the crew will help. Joe does just that, confides in his best friends, his crew, his family.

Joe learns quickly that the family he builds through friendship and love is a bond stronger than he realizes. With his trusted foreman in lead, the crew reminds Joe just what it is to be part of the family they built together. Screwed is a sexy and emotional visit with the Powertools crew. I loved all emotions throughout the story. Wanting something, changing your life and going for it are all big steps but with the support of the crew at their back, there is nothing at can’t be accomplished.

I so enjoyed the emotional and super hot visit with Joe, Morgan and the crew. Screwed is a fantastic quickie afternoon read.

Jayne Rylon brought it all with the conclusion to the Ever and Always duet, Four Love.

Would it be the worst thing in the world to accept an obscene amount of money in exchange for living with a guy and a couple of his best friends for three months?

Seems like a no brainer. But what if it means sharing their beds, too?

Let’s be honest, Holly would probably do that for free considering how hot, successful, and fun to be around they are.
Besides, if she helps Trent cash in on his inheritance—with a few naughty strings attached—she could pay for the life-saving surgery her mother’s insurance company has denied.

The one thing she can’t afford is falling in love when the man she’s obsessed with plans to ditch her after their ninety days are over.

Four Money is book one of the Ever & Always duet. Holly, Trent, Lorenzo, and Owen’s story will conclude in Four Love.

3.5 Stars

Ms. Rylon hit the reader hard and fast with Four Money.

What would you do for the right amount of money?

Holly is about to her wits end trying to figure a way to pay medical expenses for her mom. Trent is a professional gambler trying to stack the chips to fund the startup for his company. Lorenzo and Owen are Trent’s closest friends, roommates and his poly partners.

Holly is a force for sure, pure willpower and guts with such a caring nature. Trent is smart and funny. I truly enjoyed his personality and passion. We truly only just start to get to know Lorenzo and Owen in Four Money, however their charisma shines through.Opportunity knocked and Trent and Holly answered not know the surprise that was about to become their lives.

Four Money packs a punch from beginning to end. Wow. Well written characters, a super fast paced story and plot that will knock you down. Four Money is a chance on life in more ways than one. Reviewer Warring: This book is a Duet and that is stated before I started reading. Ms. Rylon hits us with quite the cliffhanger that I never saw coming. If you are not a fan of cliffhangers, highly recommend that you wait until Four Love release and read them back to back.

Sevan has been keeping secrets. She’s not the errand boy everyone at the Wildfire outlaw motorcycle gang thinks she is. No, she’s been playing a dangerous game, hunting their president from inside their ranks in the name of revenge. And if anyone finds out, they won’t hesitate to kill her.

Levi Jansen has always been drawn to Sevan, even when he thought she was a scrawny male mechanic named Rivet. He can’t blame her for that since he’s been hiding plenty too. As an undercover agent, he’s relied on his tenuous partnership with ex-con, Ransom, to infiltrate Wildfire and build an ironclad case against them.

As the three of them swirl deeper into darkness, they’ll need to rely on each other to find their way out, and back home to Hot Rides. Otherwise they’re doomed to become exactly what they’ve been fighting so hard to defeat.

Allowing themselves to be distracted by desire would be the stupidest thing they could do. Unfortunately, it’s impossible to ignore the sizzling attraction between them, complicating everything.

This is a standalone book in the Hot Rides series and includes an HEA with no cheating. The series is part of the greater universe where both the Powertools and Hot Rods books are also set, so you can visit with many of your previous favorite characters and see what they’re up to now!

An undercover cop, an ex con and a woman disguising herself as a man have found themselves tangled in danger and on a dark mission with revenge in their sights. Each carrying a secret and damage to their souls. Rivet, Ransom and Levi return the MC, to take it down.

I can’t decide if Rivet is bravest, smartest woman or crazy with a death wish. The things one does for revenge. The woman is deep, intense and fears nothing. Ransom and Levi are equally as intense yet so very alpha. While Sharing similar characteristics these two men could not be more different from each other. Each of their scars cut deep but make them the man they are.

Rough Ride is an intense, white knuckled, oh so hot ride. Dark and dangerous with the intent on nothing but revenge. Yet three people somehow find their way to each other in a completely messed up situation. The wrong move could be it for all three. Rivet, Ransom and Levi found something beyond beautiful in a mess of darkness. They learn to lean on and trust one another. Ms. Rylon pulls out all the stops and kept me flying through the pages. Rough Ride’s dark edge and intensity, fast pace and good plot line, and passion beyond passion makes this installment of the Powertools Hot Ride my favorite.

Powertools: Got Rides Series, Book 3

Published: July 12, 2019

There’s a thin line between love and hate.

Kyra Kado hates Van Hernandez. Or at least she wishes she could. Ever since she kissed him and he rejected her as a “mistake”, things have been tense onboard their tour bus. Kyra takes out her aggression during her drumming performances as a member of Kason Cox’s band and tries not to think about how well Van guards her body between their shows.

Until she meets Ollie Dawes, who’s the perfect distraction. Funny, flirty, and cute AF, he takes her mind off Van. The Hot Rides salvage man is used to being alone on his solo part-finding missions, but she suspects he’d rather not be lonely anymore. She can relate. So she invites him to come see a show.

When Van discovers Kyra and Ollie performing an illicit encore together, he goes berserk. Distancing herself from Van might keep Kyra’s heart safe, but what about her body? A string of unsettling incidents make Kyra afraid one of her admirers has crossed the line from fan to fanatic.

With Ollie and Van teamed up to protect Kyra, she isn’t sure she’ll survive being torn between the two men she craves. She might have to sacrifice her friendships with them to stay sane, unless she can think of a way to keep them both in her life or in her bed.

This is a standalone book in the Hot Rides series and includes an HEA with no cheating. The series is part of the greater universe where both the Powertools and Hot Rods books are also set, so you can visit with many of your previous favorite characters and see what they’re up to now!

 4 Stars

Hard Ride gets a reader heated in more ways than one.

Mix together a fine looking bodyguard(Van), a hottie parts finder(Ollie) and kicka** drummer(Kyra) and you get a wicked hot mess that heats up the pages, has the reader beyond invested and possibly over emotional to the point of screaming at their chosen reading device, kind of story. This triad knows how to get each other’s blood pumping.

Kyra, Van and Ollie are all very unique people with very different backgrounds. Each of them bring something different and compelling to their union. Each of them proves that what you see on the outside may not be what’s lurking on the inside. Ollie is so passionate it makes my heart melt. Kyra is so strong but yet has a vulnerable side that some may not see. Van tries to keep feeling separated from his job but when the missing piece falls into place there’s no denying.

Ms. Rylon keeps readers on their toes with Hard Ride! Emotional and sexy, but the waters are rough before Ollie, Van and Kyra find smooth sailing.  The level of intimacy that the three come to share is beautiful. All in all, Hard Ride is a well balanced story with all the heat and heart, and just enough drama and angst to shake things up.
