NYT Bestselling Author Carrie Ann Ryan’s Montgomery Ink Legacy continues with a workplace romance that started with a fling and ends with something more.
It was only supposed to be one job.
I know the rules.
Get in. Get out.
Protect the girl, then move on.
Only it never works out the way it should.
Now Jennifer and I work with each other and there’s no going back to normal.
Then it turned into something more.
Gus isn’t for me. I know that.
Only the chemistry that burns between us won’t fade away.
We promise it will only be one night.
Then another.
But when our actions have consequences that could mean the end of our future, we’ll have to figure out exactly what we want.
Even if it means walking away broken before it begins.

Hang on my reading friends, this one is fast and full throttle. Carrie Ann Ryan gives us a quick and hot read to warm us up on a winter day with Happily Ever Maybe.
Gus and Jennifer work for Montgomery security and have been partners for about a year. There’s no denying that they both are attracted to one another but with a job like theirs you have to put your feelings to the side. Or can they? Finally, they decide to put it all on the line for one night. But life steps in and handy them something else. We see a lot of things happen very quickly, but most of all we see two people stop, denying something that they will truly want and seeing how much their friends back them up in the process. This may be a quick read, but it packs the punch of a full novel and gives everything we love from a romance read.

I drop my phone into my pocket and grab my suitcase’s handle to turn around.
“Hey, watch—” I hear him too late and crash into the man trying to warn me with a thud that knocks the wind out of me and pushes me back onto my heels. I windmill my arms to try and correct my balance but cry out as it proves in vain and my body teeters backward. I brace myself for a fall.
Instead, an arm wraps around my waist and I find myself staring into the mirrored lenses of a dark pair of Ray-Bans.
Even with his eyes hidden and his face covered in sweat he’s easily one of the most handsome men I’ve ever seen in person. He’s got a mouth most women would envy and a nose that belongs in a museum. His pores are amazing. I need to find out what he uses on his skin.
“Are you alright?” he asks, still hovering over me, still holding me up as if I weighed nothing.
“Yes.” I cough to clear the husk from my voice. “I’m sorry I wasn’t watching where I was going.”
“I was,” he murmurs.
“You were…watching where I was going?”
“No. Where I was going. So, I saw you. Caught you.” The heat from his hand seeps through the thin fabric of my sundress.
I can’t see his eyes but I swear I can feel them on my face and I don’t like that I can’t see him.
And that’s my cue to end this little…whatever it is.
“Can you let me up?” I press my hands to his chest.
“Oh.” He starts as if he didn’t realize he was holding me. “Yes, sorry.” He straightens and lets me go. But the heat from his touch doesn’t.
“Thanks for breaking my fall. I’m Cassie.” I give a lame wave.
He flashes an unfairly perfect grin. “Nice to meet you. How long are you here?”
“All week. I’m working at the resort. You?” I ask as he starts to jog in place and glances at his watch.
“Two weeks. At least. So…maybe I’ll see you around?”
“Sure. What’s your name?”
“They call me Wild Card.” He winks and runs off.
Oh shit. I’ve already fucked up. Well at least I know who to avoid.
“I glance over my shoulder and watch him run away, his back muscles a thing of art and perfection, and sigh. “What a waste.”

Release Day: Christmas in Cape May by Jennifer Probst
She’s a beach town flower shop owner who loves Christmas. He’s the hot new restaurant owner with a grumpy Grinch heart.
Christmas in Cape May, an all-new steamy Sunshine Sisters novella from New York Times bestselling author Jennifer Probst, is available now!

Devon Pratt loves many things in life. The beauty of flowers. The yin and yang of energy. The power of positivity in people. And everything to do with the Christmas season.
As a floral shop owner in the beach town of Cape May, she looks forward to decorating both the town and running the annual holiday party to benefit the local animal shelter. Too bad the new owner of her favorite venue is more like the Grinch than Santa. Working with him will be a challenge, but she’s too full of seasonal cheer to let him annoy her, right?
Jameson Franklin hates many things in life. Crowds. Fake cheer. Ostentatious décor. And especially Christmas. The season is full of things he’d rather avoid, but since taking over the popular restaurant Vintage temporarily for his cousin as a favor, he’s trying to play nice with the locals. Too bad the florist is insisting on overrunning his sacred space with blooms, dogs, and an endless positive persistence that pushes all of his buttons. But when too many heated confrontations lead to heated encounters, he begins to wonder what it would be like to love not only Christmas, but Devon Pratt.
Let the festivities begin.

She took a few steps in and jabbed her finger in the air. “You wouldn’t know how to handle a day at my shop, restaurant boy. And cancelling on a charity two weeks before the event is bad business in whatever way you want to look at it. I refuse to let you ruin this town’s tradition because you want to line your pocket with a few extra bucks. I don’t care what I have to do. You will honor the agreement and hold the gala here or I will make you sorely regret it.” The words shot and floated through the room like post-gunfire. A slight trembling shook her body from the depth of her emotions, and she dully noted it had been a long time since any individual—male or female—brought out her full ire. Devon braced herself for the fight of the century. “Restaurant boy?” The droll amusement only notched her temper higher. “I mean it. I will help you do this but you have a responsibility to keep your damn word.” The man had the audacity to lean back in his chair with ease and regard her under lashes that were too thick for a male. “And if I don’t?” Devon realized she’d make a bigger impression if she was like him. Cold-hearted, methodical, and ruthless. “I know people.” Interest piqued in those storm cloud eyes. “Mob?” “No. Legal people. Wouldn’t it be a shame to try and make productive changes and have to deal with customer complaints regarding the food? Or sanitary conditions?” She clucked her tongue. “Mac just got his liquor license. I bet you’d make a pretty penny selling your fancy Manhattan cocktails here. Wouldn’t it be a shame if something happened to that liquor license?” “You really like dogs, don’t you?” She narrowed her gaze and tried to figure him out. He was so damn…perplexing. Devon expected anger, or some other type of boorish behavior. Instead, he acted like he was royalty who refused to show weakness or emotion. Unfortunately, it only made her want to stir him up a bit to see where his limits were. “Dogs are the bomb. They deserve a little happiness before being returned to their cages without a family for Christmas.” And then something amazing happened. He laughed. Sure, it was a chuckle, and not a full-blown chest laugh, but the sound ruffled her nerve endings and made her want to remember it so she could replay the scene later in her head. “Okay, flower girl. I’ll give you what you want because I have limited time to deal with your threats but I have no time to structure this event. I’ll serve local beer and wine. I’ll offer up a limited menu based on my choices. That’s it. You do everything else and there will be no interference with the lunch crowd. The event begins at six pm, and I serve till 4pm. That means, no early drop-offs or distractions for my staff.” She opened her mouth to say something but he kept going. “And if I need anything, I plan to call you and only you. The moment you don’t respond, I’m calling the whole thing off, and you can blame the dogs’ broken hearts on your inability to follow through. Understood?” “Flower girl?” He grinned and her stomach did another weird flip. Something about those lips distracted her. “Tit for tat. Now, I need to get back to work.” This time, he turned around and began tapping at his keyboard. She’d already been dismissed. Head spinning, unable to come up with a proper retaliation, Devon left, wondering if she’d won the battle only to have lost the war. Because dealing with that man for the next two weeks was going to be hell on Earth.

I am loving the tales of the new dragon world. Tamlyn and Cullen may not Share each other’s mission but they do understand the cars behind each. They each carried out such noble actions while the enemy lay in the shadows. Tamlin as a strong heroine. She stood her ground and didn’t fall in the face of danger. Cullen met his match and his equal when he met Tamlyn. When the dragon kings know they know it’s amazing to watch them fall. Donna Grant once again bestows the magic of her dragon world upon her readers. Fast paced, lots of action and a couple that you definitely want to root for. The great line of “You my dragon “ , totally hits you in just the right way. Dragon Unbound started my reading year off right.

More Than Possess You
Shayla Black
More Than Words Series, Book 6.75
1001 Dark Nights
I’m Hayes Elliott. Since second grade, I’ve had one best friend, Echo Hope. When she graduates from college, of course I have to give her something amazing. Since I’ll be on a business trip to Maui, I’m bringing her along for a week of fun and sun. But once she sheds her long skirts, serious buns, and combat boots for bikinis, I can’t deny how stunning she is…and I can’t stop wanting her. Worse, she’s determined to lose her V-card—and has asked one of our man-whoring buddies to pluck it.
I’ve got to step in.
It’s underhanded, but I offer to do the job properly. Since I’m no one’s Prince Charming, I have no intention of following through. Suddenly, the kisses start and the clothes come off…and I can’t remember why I’m not supposed to make her mine in every way. Or why I shouldn’t be in love with her. But if I want Echo for more than a vacation fling, I’ll have to fight. And she’s about to find out how determined I am to upgrade my best friend to wife.

Shayla Black takes the reader to tropical Hawaii with the next chapter in the More Than Words series with More Than Possess You.
Hayes Elliott and Echo Hope have been best friends for as long as they can remember. They do have a tight knit group of friends yet the two are closer than close. When Hayes and good friend Xavian Costa are heading to maui for a work thing Hayes finds it fitting to invite Echo along. What should be a week in Paradise becomes a realization of many things.
More Than Possess You goes beyond friendship and what you see on the outside. It is about love and longing. Learning there’s more and the passion is so sweet. Hayes is so possessive but yet extremely tender at the same time. His heart is in the right place yet he doesn’t seem to notice what is right under his nose. Echo is one smart cookie. She took a giant leap, putting everything on the line. I enjoyed watch this friendship turn into something so much more.

Treasured by Lexi Blake
Treasured
Lexi Blake
Masters and Mercenaries Series, Book 22.5
From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Lexi Blake comes a new story in her Masters and Mercenaries series…
David Hawthorne has a great life. His job as a professor at a prestigious Dallas college is everything he hoped for. Now that his brother is back from the Navy, life seems to be settling down. All he needs to do is finish the book he’s working on and his tenure will be assured. When he gets invited to interview a reclusive expert, he knows he’s gotten lucky. But being the stepson of Sean Taggart comes with its drawbacks, including an overprotective mom who sends a security detail to keep him safe. He doesn’t need a bodyguard, but when Tessa Santiago shows up on his doorstep, the idea of her giving him close cover doesn’t seem so bad.
Tessa has always excelled at most anything she tried, except romance. The whole relationship thing just didn’t work out for her. She’s not looking for love, and she’s certainly not looking for it with an academic who happens to be connected to her boss’s family. The last thing she wants is to escort an overly pampered pretentious man-child around South America to ensure he doesn’t get into trouble. Still, there’s something about David that calls to her. In addition to watching his back, she will have to avoid falling into the trap of soulful eyes and a deep voice that gets her heart racing.
But when the seemingly simple mission turns into a treacherous race for a hidden artifact, David and Tess know this assignment could cost them far more than their jobs. If they can overcome the odds, the lost treasure might not be their most valuable reward.

Lexi Blake does it once again.
Treasured finds us with our sexy nerd alert radar going off at full force. David Hawthorne is a hot professor who has a bad ass for a step father and a few kinky secrets. And we also have Tessa Santiago. A woman who excels at her job at McKay-Taggart but her life is not so together having recently broken off an engagement. A chance meeting has sparks flying but as soon as Tessa realizes who this handsome hottie is she’s gone like the wind. Fate steps in and gives these two a big push when Tessa is assigned to be David’s bodyguard for a trip to a private island.
Oh my God the chemistry between these two. Tessa has some alpha tendencies that I absolutely adored in her. I love how she got protective of her professor. David’s laid-back way of being a Dom was quite a surprise. With a Mystery at hand and chemistry so hot it could set the world on fire. I love how they interact with each other and it was only a matter of time until fate would win and David and Tessa saw what they needed to in each other.
Lexi Blake never fails to give her readers a story they can get lost in and fall in love with the characters. For a long time reader she gives a few little treats of upcoming possibilities in future stories and there’s nothing like getting to spend time with McKay-Taggert crew.

A life changing journey packed into an exciting novella. Dragon Revealed is a great introduction to the next chapter for the Dragon Kings.

Caught up in confusion and no one to trust Jeyra feels most at ease with the one who should be the enemy. For someone who has hated dragons her entire life, next to Varek is where she wants to be.
One minute Varek is swimming around the ocean and the next he wakes up shackled to a wall in a realm he’s never seen before. Needing information Varek answers Jeyra questions asking his own along the way. Quickly finding himself drawn to this woman, anticipating her visits and imagining her red hair hanging down. As Verak’s questions begin to make Jeyra think and question her own people, he wants to protect her, keep her safe, fight for her. Verak found his one but is she the enemy or his mate?
Dragon Revealed grabs the reader from the get go and doesn’t let up until the end. Jeyra is an amazingly strong character. She stood her ground, sought the truth and did what was right. She followed her gut and it never led her wrong. Verak is strong in so many ways. When he couldn’t use his magic or his strength he compensated with his patients. Even with his own safety on the line Verak shows his compassion and passion for Jeyra without the blink of an eye. They were perfect for one another. Donna Grant bridges the Dark Kings to the Dragon Kings flawlessly. A short story that packed a big punch. Filled with questions and mystery, Dragon Revealed will have you flying through the pages just to see what happens. There are even a few surprises and a nice little treat in store for a long time readers of the series.

A second chance at love set inside my favorite fictional band world. Love Story is a fun edition to the Stage Dive world.
From being tossed to the streets to achieving Rockstar status, Adam Dillon made his way to the top by creating songs throwing all his anger and heartbreak on ex. Is he living the dream and trying to rub it in? Or is there something more behind his act of goodwill. Jill is a force of nature. Determined and sassy, she is going to get her answers. When those answers are not what she expected, the brave and ready to speak her mind woman is just a bit speechless. Sometimes the artist has to create the art before the emotions can be spoken.
I very much enjoyed Adam and Jill’s story. When Love Story being as short as it is, so much of their story could have been unseen, yet a simple background set the whole story in motion. Their chemistry and attraction was never the issue, emotions and lack of communication was their weakness. The time apart and the distance between them allow them to grow in the ways they needed to to be better for themselves.
Adam learned quickly that money wasn’t everything, the girl that made him write those crazy, angry songs was. Kylie Scott’s Stage Five world is always a fun place to visit. Adam and Jill fit in just fine.
