ARc Review: Moon Shimmers by Yasmine Galenorn

Moon Shimmers
Yasmine Galenorn
Otherworld/Sisters of the Moon Series, Book 19
Published May 2nd 2017 by Nightqueen Enterprises LLC (first published April 28th 2017)
We’re the D’Artigo sisters: savvy half-human, half-Fae operatives for the Otherworld Intelligence Agency. My sister Delilah is a two-faced werecat and a Death Maiden. Menolly is a vampire married to a gorgeous werepuma and a vampire prince. And me? I’m Camille, a Moon Witch married to three gorgeous husbands, and I’m about to ascend to the throne of Dusk & Twilight. But the path to the throne lies through a labyrinth of dangers, which I must face alone…
Before I can fulfill my destiny to become the Queen of Dusk & Twilight, I must seek out the Keraastar Diamond. But to find the magical gem and take control over the Keraastar Knights, I must venture back to Otherworld, deep into the treacherous Tygerian Mountains. Once there, I face a magical trial by fire. If I fail, Pentangle, the Mistress of Magic, will destroy me. If I succeed, my life will forever change. And I’m not certain which prospect frightens me the most.

4.5 Stars
As a long time reader of the Otherword Series, it’s with a bitter sweetness that I write this review. Moon Shimmers brings readers to the final arc of this amazingly magical series. Destiny, fate and everything Camille, her sisters, family and friends have been fighting for is now on the table.
Moon Shimmers is an emotional, fast paced journey of mental and spiritual growth for Camille. Grab a glass of wine and a box of tissues, I know I needed both. Lol. Camille has been one of my favorite characters throughout the Otherworld series, continuously growing, stepping up to her duty and putting aside her fear for the greater good. Of all of Camille’s books this one was the most emotional for me. Boy, we have seen this woman go through a lot. Life is changing, Camille struggles through the fear then faces it with her head held high. Wonky magic and all. Camille’s direct chapters of this tale have end on the best of notes.
Ms. Galenorn is a master at her craft. Otherworld is world building at its best. Moon Shimmers is amazing and so very Camille. Emotional, dangerous and adventurous. I was laughing out loud then pages later shedding tears for my favorite characters. Moon Shimmers will keep reader flying through the pages, begins to tie up loose ends and possibly even starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel.
A note to readers: this is the 19th book of the series. Normally I would not even suggest to pick up reading a series this late. Especially with there only being two books left. However I must give props to Ms. Galenorn. She supplies a new reader with enough information that they can enjoy this addition to the Otherworld series as much as I did.

Except:
Aryas knew her.
He knew what she liked.
He knew how she played.
He knew exactly what would make her squirm in her seat.
And he knew precisely how long it had been since she’d had her kink.
“You’re throwing down the gauntlet,” she accused quietly.
“You feel like picking up the glove?” he shot back, shaking the piece of paper at her.
She stared into Aryas’s eyes.
No strings.
Anything she wanted to do to get him off.
When he was done with her, he’d vanish from her life.
Her gaze dropped to the paper.
“Be you, and we’ll make it interesting, lay five grand on that fucker, he’ll give you one go and then he’ll move on,” Aryas pushed, but it was a dare.
She looked back at him.
A dare.
Yes, he knew her.
“No reflection on you and your skills, which are sublime, my beautiful baby.” He grinned wicked grin. “Just that this guy is unbreakable. There’s no edge for him any Domme can get anywhere near to push him off and that’s what he’s looking for. Being taken to the farthest edge and shoved right the fuck over.”
Taken to the farthest edge.
Evangeline was not into that. She wasn’t into extreme. Not like many who were into that in the life.
No, the edges she coasted were exactly what Aryas wasn’t quite saying, but she read this guy couldn’t handle.
Unless he had the right Mistress to lead the way.
Damn it all, she was getting wet.
“Five grand?” she snapped.
Aryas pressed his lips together and she was too peeved to get more peeved that he did it to suppress his amusement.
He unpressed them to confirm, “Five grand. But Leenie, babe, just to get it straight, he walks away from you at first meet, we’re even. It’s only if you get a crack at him the bet is on.”
She lifted her nose at the same time she snatched the paper from his hand, declaring, “He won’t walk away.”
“He might,” Aryas said gently, and his sudden loss of humor and careful tone made her focus on him again. “Beware of that. He’s done it before. In some ways, he doesn’t give a shit about anything. In some ways, he can be frustratingly choosy.”
“If I want him, he walks away, I’ll still get him,” she announced.
About Kristen Ashley:
Kristen Ashley was born in Gary, Indiana, USA and nearly killed her mother and herself making it into the world, seeing as she had the umbilical cord wrapped around her neck (already attempting to accessorizeand she hadn’t taken her first breath!). Her mother said they took Kristen away, put her Mom back in her room, her mother looked out the window, and Gary was on fire (Dr. King had been assassinated four days before). Kristen’s Mom remembered thinking it was the end of the world. Quite the dramatic beginning.
Nothing’s changed.
Kristen grew up in Brownsburg, Indiana and has lived in Denver, Colorado and the West Country of England. Thus, she’s blessed to have friends and family around the globe. Her family was (is) loopy (to say the least) but loopy is good when you want to write. They all lived together on a very small farm in a small farm town in the heartland. She grew up with Glenn Miller, The Everly Brothers, REO Speedwagon and Whitesnake (and the wardrobes that matched).
Needless to say, growing up in a house full of music, clothes and love was a good way to grow up.
And as she keeps growing, it keeps getting better.

Review: Only With Me By Kelly Elliott

Life was great.
I loved my bachelor life and working my dream job with the Colorado Springs SWAT team.
That all changed the day I stepped into her bakery. Her smile swept me off my feet, and her panna cotta was heaven.
Cue my very traditional Greek family.
Then all hell broke loose.
The woman I was falling in love with was Italian, and my mother was hell-bent on proving to the world she was the better cook.
If my meddling family wasn’t bad enough, for the last six years Gabi had been on the run from a past she tried desperately to escape from.
Between a beautiful woman on the run, and a crazy family constantly in my business, would I be able to show her I’m the only one who can keep her safe … or will her past steal her away from me?
iBooks

My eyes swung over to look at my mother standing there with my aunt Maria and Aunt Agnes.
“Shit,” I whispered.
“Oh God. This is not happening. This is it!” Gabi exclaimed as she covered her mouth.
I placed my hands on her shoulders and leaned in closer. In a whispered voice, I asked, “What is wrong?”
Her eyes met mine. “This is her challenge! I thought it was that day in the bakery. That was a merely a test! She’s here to take me down!”
I laughed. “My mother is not here to take you down.”
She slowly shook her head and asked, “How did she know?”
Then we both turned to look at Liza. She took a step away. “You didn’t.”
Liza’s eyes were everywhere. Me, my mother, back to Gabi, back to my mother. “I might have mentioned it that day in the bakery when she was there. But she saw the registration form and asked if you had entered! I didn’t know I wasn’t supposed to say.”
“Nicholaus, don’t be rude. Introduce your Gabriella to your Aunt Maria and Aunt Agnes.”
Gabi took in a slow deep breath before turning and facing my mother and aunts.
With my hand on her back, we walked closer. “Mama, this is a surprise to see you here.”
She looked taken aback. “Why? I love to cook, this is a cooking competition. Why wouldn’t I be here?”
“Because you’ve never entered one before.”
The three of them laughed. “Please. Your mama has won more cooking competitions than anyone in this room.”
Gabi swayed, and I tightened my grip on her.
When my mother turned to look at Gabi, she wore a wide smile. “So, with you being a part of our family, I want to make sure you come in second so I’ve brought you some help.”
Oh for shits sake.
“Help?” Gabi asked with a strained voice.
And before our eyes appeared my cousins Sophia and Angie, and just when I didn’t think it could get worse, cousin Maria walked up carrying a giant bag with some rat looking dog in it.
“Um, I don’t think you can have a dog in here,” Liza said.
Everyone turned and looked at cousin Maria. “Are you shitting me? I don’t go anywhere without my Nikky.”
“Gabriella, this is Aunt Maria and Aunt Agnes.”
Gabi reached her hand out to theirs.
“Ahh! You made it!” my mother called out as her best friend came walking up. I couldn’t help but groan.
“Gabriella, this is my very dear friend, Maria.”
I didn’t think Gabi could look any more confused. “Oh, um, another Maria! That’s a lot of Maria’s under one roof.” They all stared at her like they didn’t get it.
They fucking got it.
“All right, well now that the gang is here, Mama you should be heading on over to your station.”
“You’re not coming over there with me?”
Gabi’s head jerked to the side to look at me. Oh shit. What the hell do I do?
I did the only thing I knew to do. I looked for guidance from Liza. My eyes were wide as she motioned to Gabi.
Right. Right. I needed to stay with Gabi.
“Well, Mama, I was planning on helping Gabi and being here for moral support with this being her first competition and all.” Gabi glared at me.
Shit, what did I do now?
Then my mother turned back to Gabi. “First, huh?” My heart dropped in my chest. That’s why Gabi shot me a dirty look. “Well, I better let you get going then. Good luck.”
With a full-on smile, Gabi nodded. “Thanks! You too. And may the best cook win.”
Tossing her head back and laughing before looking back at Gabi, my mother said, “Oh, I will.”

4 Stars
Why Kelly Elliott has not appeared on my radar before now is flooring me. The woman can write a damn good story. Needless to say my first read by Ms. Elliott, Only With Me will not be my last.
Nic is an alpha man living his dream. A member of SWAT, the man has player tendencies, cocky and over protective. Underneath it all is a super hot, caring and panty melting Greek good. Mic is a keeper, that’s for sure.
Gabi is a woman trying to settle and lay low. On the run and keeping secrets she want to keep the past behind her. I liked Gabi. She’s a spitfire, giving as good as she got. And OMG so I want some of this woman’s food.
Only With Me is a laugh out loud funny and amazingly hot read. Nic and Gabi’s chemistry and connection is off the charts and very believable. Their passion is scorching, but that happens when Greek gods disguise themselves as normal men. Only With Me has a cast of colorful charismatic characters that contribute to making this story amazing. There is no lack of personality in this story. Great characters, insatiable passion and banter that makes you laugh out loud. Kelly Elliott’s writing style is fun, pulls the read in and keeps them go. I will definitely be checking out more of her work.

EXCERPT:
“Mick?” she whispered.
“Yeah?”
“Are you feeling something?”
“You could say that,” he murmured. “You?”
She licked her lips and he nearly groaned. “I think so,” she whispered.
“That’s good.”
“Are you going to kiss me?”
He cupped her face, let his thumbs trace her jawbone, his fingers sinking into her silky waves. “No,” he said quietly. “And not because I don’t want to, but because when I do, I want to know you’re ready. That you’ll feel it.”
She sighed. “Guys do whatever they want all the time, no emotions necessary. I want that skill.” Another shaky breath escaped her, and since they were literally an inch apart, they shared air for a single heartbeat during which neither of them moved.
Her gaze dropped to his mouth. “Okay, so I’m definitely feeling things.” She hesitated and then her hands came up to his chest. “Maybe we should test it out to be sure.”
God, she was the sweetest temptation he’d ever met, and he wanted nothing more than to cover her mouth with his. Instead, he brushed his mouth to her cheek.
“Please, Mick,” she whispered, her exhale warming his throat.
He loved the “please,” and he wanted to do just that more than anything. But when she tried to turn her head into his, to line up their mouths, he gently tightened his grip, dragging his mouth along her smooth skin instead, making his way to her ear.
“Not yet,” he whispered, letting his lips brush over her earlobe and the sensitive skin beneath it.
She moaned and clutched him. “Why not?”
It took every ounce of control he had to lift his head and meet her gaze. “Because I want to make sure you’re really with me, that you’re feeling everything I’m feeling. That there’ll be no doubt, no regrets.”
“You sure have a lot of requirements.”
He laughed. And she was right, it was all big talk for a guy who didn’t do relationships anymore. Still, he forced himself to step back and shut the passenger door.
As he rounded the hood to the driver’s side, he tried to remind himself of all the reasons she was a bad idea. He lived two hundred miles away and he was hoping to move his mom up by him and never come back here. Not to mention that Quinn lived an equal two hundred miles in the opposite direction and she was in a deeply vulnerable place. No way would he even think about taking advantage of that.
But when he slid behind the wheel and their eyes locked, he realized that while his mind could stand firm, the rest of his body wasn’t on board with the in-control program.

Release Day: Hold Me by J. Kenner

My life with Damien has never been fuller. Every day is a miracle, and every night I lose myself in the oasis of his arms.
But there are new challenges, too. Our families. Our careers. And new responsibilities that test us with unrelenting, unexpected trials.
I know we will survive—we have to. Because I cannot live without Damien by my side. But sometimes the darkness seems overwhelming, and I am terrified that the day will come when Damien cannot bring the light. And I will have to find the strength inside myself to find my way back into his arms.
Amazon | Print

Better?
I smile at the text from Damien, then immediately tap out a reply.
Much. Thank you.
It’s past noon, and I’ve spent a productive morning in my office getting all my proverbial ducks in order. Marge is making calls to all our clients to let them know about Eric’s departure and to tell them I’ll be calling to update them later in the week. Abby is taking point on hiring one new person who can walk the line between tech and client relations, and I’m doing everything else.
So far, there’ve been no crises today, and I’m feeling about eight thousand percent better than I was yesterday. It was still hard leaving the girls this morning, but I went in a bit later, and so we had breakfast and some playtime together.
Glad to hear it. Sending a car for you at five.
I frown, then tap out a reply.
I have Coop here. I drove my Mini Cooper into the office this morning and he’s tucked away in the small parking garage that serves my building.
He can stay in the garage overnight. I want you relaxed. We have plans tonight.
I laugh, delighted.
Are you handling me, Mr. Stark?
His reply is swift: Absolutely.
Love you. (Whispers: but I want to see my babies)
I can almost picture him smiling when he sends the next reply.
No need to whisper. I want to see them, too. Then I want to see you. Alone.
I sigh and realize that I’m smiling, the stress of the last twenty-four hours fading to zero. Maybe Jamie and Abby are right. Maybe I have got this.
Sounds good to me, I reply.
His final text comes almost immediately, tugging at my heart—and at other more intimate places.
Excellent. I’ll see you tonight, Ms. Fairchild. Until then, imagine me, touching you.
For the rest of the day, I spend a lot of time doing exactly that, and by the time Edward—Damien’s personal driver—comes into the office to tell me that he’s ready to take me home, I’m very much in the mood to see my husband.

About EASY FORTUNE (A Boudreaux Series Novella):
The Boudreaux Series—Sexy. Intriguing. Easy.
Sometimes the past is better left behind you…
Lena Turner has spent her life as the outsider. Thanks to her extraordinary gifts, she’s learned to be independent—especially when it comes to men. She’s content to live her life in New Orleans as a schoolteacher, dating casually and dedicated to her small family. Long term is not part of her plan.
Sometimes the past catches up with you…
Leaving Lena behind to pursue his career was the most difficult thing Mason Coulter ever did. He told himself that it was for the best, had even convinced himself that he had only Lena’s best interests in mind. But now, after six long years, he’s back in New Orleans to settle his late eccentric aunt’s estate. All he has to do is get in and out of the city without submitting to the need to see Lena. But to Mason’s dismay, his aunt made other plans.
And sometimes the future and the past collide…
Having Mason walk back into her life is something Lena never saw coming. She could refuse to help him, but she’s never been good at telling Mason no. So she’ll do what she can to get the estate settled and Mason out of her life for good.
At least, that’s the plan. But Mason has plans of his own…

A Note from Kristen:
Hi, everyone! I’m so happy that it’s finally Friday because that means that I don’t have to keep this secret anymore! I’m horrible at keeping secrets. Seriously, don’t tell me any. I can’t be trusted.
Since Easy Magic released last month, readers have shouted from the rooftops that they’d love for Lena, Mallory’s BFF, to have her own story. I honestly didn’t have that in mind when I wrote her into Easy Magic, but the more I thought about it, the more it occurred to me that you’re right. Lena does deserve her own happily ever after!
And that brings us to this. Easy Fortune, Lena’s story, will release on May 30th! That’s right, you won’t have to wait long for this one. Easy Fortune is a novella, and can be read as a stand-alone. And look at this gorgeous cover! I can’t thank Sara Eirew Photography enough for the beautiful photo, and Okay Creations for the amazing cover art.
Lena’s story has been a surprise to me, and frankly one of the most enjoyable story lines that I’ve written in a long time. I hope you enjoy watching her fall in love with Mason! He’s quite swoon-worthy!
Oh, and to make it an even better treat, the prologue and first chapter for Easy Nights will be included at the end of Easy Fortune. JACKPOT! J
Have a great weekend, everyone!

ARC Review: The Boss by Melissa Schroeder
The Boss
Sick of the spy game, former CIA operative Vic Walker takes time off from his security firm to figure out just what he wants out of life. But peace and quiet isn’t in the cards with a former business partner and ex-lover like MacKenzie Donovan.
Mac doesn’t like asking for help from anyone, but this latest case has her in a little over her head. She crashes back into Vic’s life with the CIA, the Russian Mob, and the FBI, on her tail after a job goes south.
But even as old feelings rise to the surface while they’re busy dodging bullets, the authorities, and mobsters, they’ll need to get out alive before they can have a second chance at love.

4.5 Stars
Melissa Schroeder rocks romantic suspense!
Mac is tenacious, a force all her own and resourceful woman. Vic is a total alpha man. He’s got the smarts and all the looks, but can’t seem to get his mouth and his brain to work together. Vic and Mac are combustible in every way. Former lovers, business partners and each other’s match in every way. Both alphas, hard headed and willing to do what it takes to get the job done. Mac and Vic tangle each emotions like no other. The trust they share is an oddity is the spy game. The passion they share just adds fuel to the fire leaving them breathless to one another.
Melissa Schroeder’s The Boss is a fast paced, well written, character driven romantic suspense. I was entertained from beginning to end. The Boss keeps readers on their toes with fun and equine characters, lots of action and a nice plot twist or two. I love second chance stories. Vic and Mac put each other through the ringer and still want each other. Now to make it work. I definitely recommend The Boss to anyone who loves a fast-paced romantic suspense.

ARC Review: Wicked Hot by Gennita Low

Wicked Hot
Gennita Low
Liliana Hart’s MacKenzie family Series
New York Times bestselling author Gennita Low adds international intrigue and suspense to Liliana Hart’s MacKenzie family with WICKED HOT…
A US operative/businessman had been kidnapped in Indonesia. He has a vital piece of information that would get the US government in trouble. But Indonesia is a country with with over 17000 islands, with plenty of jungles in which to hide.
Off-the book NSA fixer, Kirk Ryan, approaches his cousin, Archer, who works at MacKenzie Securities for help with tracing a phone call. He also needs a translator familiar with Indonesian. Not a problem. MacKenzie Securities’ troubleshooter, Jade, has plenty of connections. In fact, there is a translator she knows who is in Indonesia right now.
Suria, GEM contract agent, really doesn’t want to do anything but lie on the heated beaches of Indonesia and just enjoy her first holiday in years. But she owes Jade Jax a favor and her friend’s calling it in. And the favor comes in a six-foot-two package of irresistible and wicked male. It’s just a translation job. She would help and maybe get to know the man for a day or two. What could go wrong?

4 Stars
Suspenseful and fast-paced. Gennita Low gets readers hearts pumping and keeps them on their toes.
Wicked Hot packed a huge punch for a short book. Ms. Low has a keen eye for detail and takes the reader on hell of an adventure. Giving readers a close, personal and intimate look at the covert operations and the effects on the characters and those they surround themselves with.
Ms. Low’s attention to detail and amazingly strong characters have made wonderful additions to the MacKenzie world family. Kirk and Surya are both strong, hard headed and incredibly brave. Although I found Wicked Hot heavy on the suspense and action, the rising sexual tension along with the playful banter between Kirk and Surya gives reader the touch of romance that we love some much.
Ms. Low’s writing style is unique and very enjoyable. You can very much tell she has done more than her fair share of research. I look forward to reading more of her work.

ARC Review: The Player by K. Bromberg

Baseball has never been sexier in an all-new novel by New York Times Bestselling Author, K. Bromberg.
Easton Wylder is baseball royalty. The game is his life. His passion. His everything.
So, when an injury threatens to end Easton’s season early, the team calls in renowned physical therapist, Doc Dalton, to oversee his recovery. Except it’s not Doc who greets Easton for his first session, but rather, his daughter, Scout. She may be feisty, athletic, defiant, and gorgeous, but Easton is left questioning whether she has what it takes to help him.
Scout Dalton’s out to prove a female can handle the pressure of running the physical therapy regimen of an MLB club. And that proof comes in the form of getting phenom Easton Wylder back on the field. But getting him healthy means being hands-on.
And with a man as irresistible as Easton, being hands-on can only lead to one thing, trouble. Because the more she touches him, the more she wants him, and she can’t want him. Not when it’s her job to maintain the club’s best interest, in regards to whether he’s ready to play.
But when sparks fly and fine lines are crossed, can they withstand the heat, or is one of them bound to get burned?

4 Stars
I have to start off by saying I’m not a sports person whatsoever, but I do very much enjoy Ms. Bromberg’s writing. So I went way outside my comfort zone with The Player.
Easton is as cocky as he is talented. A superstar baseball player who is charming, very sexy and confident. Under the famous exterior, is a kind and caring man who know what he wants and is not afraid to go after it. The truly has a heart of gold. Suffering an injury that could stop his career, Easton promises to defy the odds and get back on top of the game.
Scout is feisty to say the least. I liked her. She’s proud woman and good at what she does. And like all good women, Scout is a bit stubborn too. She is also a women with secrets. Secrets she keeps along with her heart bottled to herself. However Scout is a no nonsense, stand her ground and go after what she wants kind of woman.
Ms. Bromberg has just done what I call the impossible. I enjoyed a sports romance. Even if she did leave the readers on edge with a cliffhanger ending. Her writing is masterful and intriguing. The attention to detail is amazing. The characters are deep, well developed and relatable. The plot is delicately balanced with just enough drama, romance and comical moments. I really enjoyed how the “little things” stood out.
Scout and Easton are fun together and good for each other. The passion, attraction and banter between the two put a big smile on this reader’s face. The chemistry they created is to the point of combustion. The Player is a super hot and fun read with some deep emotions at play!
Readers note: Being a non sports fan, I want to give Ms. Bromberg some major props on The Player. I didn’t feel overwhelmed with baseball. Yes it was part of the story but not the whole of the story. A truly excellent balance.
