East of Ecstasy (Book 4 Hearts of Anemoi) by: Laura Kaye

EoE-website Annalise Fallston made peace with postponing her big-city dreams to care for her ill father, but lately she’s been filled with a restlessness not even her beloved painting dispels. Worse, the colors don’t speak to her as they always have, and all her efforts produce dark, foreboding images of a dangerous man and a terrifying future. Devlin Eston, black-souled son of the evil Anemoi Eurus, is the only one who can thwart his father’s plan to overthrow the Supreme God of Wind and Storms. But first, Dev must master the unstable powers he’s been given. Distrusted and shunned by his own divine family, he never expected to find kindness and passion in the arms of a mortal. But Devlin’s love puts Annalise in the path of a catastrophic storm, and in the final Armageddon showdown between the Anemoi and Eurus, sacrifices will be made, hearts broken, and lives changed forever…or lost.

4.5 out of 5 stars

This is the last book of Laura Kaye’s Hearts of Anemoi series and be warned that this book will make you go through a whirlwind of emotion.

I was not a major fan of Devlin at the beginning of this novel.  I found him overly emo in the fact that he has a lot of issues from his childhood.   I completely understood and was sympathetic at first but after a while I wanted him to stop hiding behind these feelings of self loathing. However, these feelings don’t last after Anna breaks through that barrier of crazy and I give that girl props!

This is the book where shit hits the fan in the final battle and nobody is left un-scared.   I cried worse reading this book, laughed more reading this book, and was held captured more reading this book then I have in a long time.  This attests to the amazing characters, plot and scenery that Laura Kaye paints for her readers.  Grab a box of tissues and if you read this book in public be prepared for people to think your crazy from the maniacal laughter/sobbing/ and awws.

Like all of the books in this series everything follows through and it is a quick read.  You will not be left wondering anything as all questions are answered and everything you learn is for a purpose.  Laura Kaye- thank you for this amazing experience and know that this series is going to be one that I read again and again.

This review is solely my own opinion; I was unpaid for any of my words.  I purchased this story for my own enjoyment.  I got the image and description from Laura Kaye’s website which can be found by clicking the picture at the beginning of this review.  Happy reading!

WARNING! This book was Erotic romance and it was HOT HOT HOT!

A European rock band full of hot guys that aren’t afraid to get down and dirty with any girl whose willing- and the girl of the night is Ginny Walters.  After a show that might just be their last (since the lead singer just left in the middle of the act) guitarist Ash walks into his dressing room to find a gorgeous girl.   Needing to make a quick and discrete get away Ginny offers up her small hotel room as an escape.  Even though her sights are set on Ash, Ginny’s up for some fun with the other guys; especially if she can find out what makes Ash tick.

I was really surprised how much I actually loved this book.  Typically I go for a bit more plot then sex but this book delivered on all kinds of fronts.  Over the course of a single evening and a lot of naughtiness you learn that even rock stars can get tired of the life and that love is never expected from what starts as a one night stand.    I was really surprised with the character Ash; it was amazing to see all sides of a person who only puts up one front.  I wanted to hug him and hit him in the same breath.  I will definitely be watching for Ms. Ellis’s next book in this series and keeping a close eye on this author!

I was given a copy of this book from netgalley.com after requesting it for an honest review.  All of these words are my own and I was unpaid for my opinions.  To get to Ms. Ellis’s website click on the picture above.  The picture and book description were found on Madelynne Ellis’s website.  Happy reading!

 5 out of 5 Stars

Sexy and supernatural are the two best words to describe Laura Kaye’s Hearts of Anemoi series.  I loved every single book in this bundle and I couldn’t wait to read the next story (honestly the bags under my eyes can attest).  Laura Kaye brings world’s alive and knows her characters so well there is no way not to fall in love. So though this review will be brief I do have some major thoughts to get out for each book!

North of Need- I LOVE OWEN!!!! He makes me want perpetual winter so that I can build a snowman and pray I get a man like Owen Winters (while singing the Frozen soundtrack).  He is absolutely endearing and I couldn’t possibly imagine a better book to snuggle up with on a cold winter day.  Megan has a broken heart and she needs Owen almost as much as he needs her.  Igloo’s and ice cream, skiing and sex-this book has it all.

West of Want- I’ll admit I did NOT like Zeph in the beginning; but West of Want changed the way I looked at all the characters after chapter one.  This God of spring stole my heart and I can’t imagine these story’s without him.

South of Surrender- OMG I don’t think that anyone is as hot as the God of Summer Chrysander Notos (even though I’m still an Owen fangirl).  However, out of all of the leading ladies in this series I have to say that I have a soft spot for Laney Summerlyn.  She is amazing, independent, and a horse lover! What’s not to love about a woman who is attempting to live her life to the fullest despite the odds against her.

Basically, if your going to read the Hearts of Anemoi bundle or any of the books in this series-have time.  These things are like potato chips; you can’t have just one.  I highly suggest reading these books in order as they do have a major plot line that carries over (especially West of Want on).  Thanks Laura Kaye for another AMAZING reading experience.

This review is based on my own opinions; I read for the love of it and I am unpaid for these words.  I purchased this series for my own enjoyment.  The picture and description of all the books come off Laura Kaye’s website with can be found by clicking on the image.  Happy reading !

3.5 out of 4 stars

Let me start by saying that this book was wayyyy outside my comfort genre.  I am not a big cowboy person and the idea of picking up a cowboy book made me a little nervous.  Though I will say: “Thank you Cat Johnson!.”  This Oklahoma Nights novel was quick, painless, sexy, and intriguing.  Now I will say that this is the first time I’ve read a book by Cat Johnson and there are two other novels before this one.  However, I think that this book works just as well as a stand-alone as it does in a series.  Her characters developed beautifully through the story and I was very sad to see it end at what seems to be the beginning of their relationship.

I found a few things very interesting during this novel, the main one being abuse by a woman to a man.  Typically abuse in books (or talked about in general) is a man abusing a woman but Cat Johnson shows that this is easily turned around. During the story Jace (our leading male) has a thought that he is more abused by his ex then he is by the bulls he rides; and it broke my heart!  I also found our leading lady intriguing but in a less positive way.  After being in love with the same man for what seems like her whole life; he’s married to another woman and soon to be a father.  To get back at him she’s decided that her useless virginity has to go; and any cowboy at the rodeo will do.

Put together by a broken car, no money, a brother/friend, and a rodeo competition Three Weeks with a Bull Rider showed me that cowboys can be sexy and this genre is not to be ignored.

I got my copy of Three Weeks with a Bull Rider by: Cat Johnson from Mamma D’s personal collection.  This review is my own personal views and opinions (no payment involved).  The picture and book description were taken off of Cat Johnson’s website which can be found by clicking on the hyperlink in the picture.  Happy reading!

Hell Without You by: Ranae Rose

ImageTime changes everything, except what’s meant to be.

Seven years is a long time – long enough to transform Clementine from a small-town teenager with a broken heart into a woman ready to take on the world, but not long enough to make her forget about the man she was never supposed to see again. A temporary return to tiny Willow Heights thrusts her back into Donovan’s life and home, unearthing heartbreak and obsession that have stood the test of time.

He left seven years ago too, for war and other things Clementine can only imagine. Coming back to the town where he grew up in the shadow of poverty and drug addiction makes no sense, and neither do Clementine’s feelings for him. He could never forgive her for leaving, could he? Even if she had no choice.

Now, she has the freedom to choose … and so does he. Every day in Willow Heights makes it clearer: all he ever really wanted was her, and nothing will change that. Not even a taste of the hell that drove them apart in the first place.

Thrilling, sexy, and hot are the top three words I would use to describe Ranae Rose’s Hell Without You.  Donovan is a sexy veteran (who doesn’t love a military man?!) who knows what he wants.  And what he want’s in Clementine.  Clementine is a main character that I love to read: a female who is smart, driven, and independent.

Mrs.Rose’s plot is well established and my only complaint is that I want a prequel!  Donovan and Clementine were high school sweethearts before the book begins years later.  And while I’m a huge fan of the flashbacks that we see I would LOVE to know more!! Unlike other books that I’ve read Mrs. Rose makes it easy to tell point of view and flashbacks are happening so as a reader I was never confused.  Another note I’d like to make sure to empathize is that Mrs.Rose’s sex scenes are HOT.  I found myself both embarrassed and wanting more! (Have you ever tried to read a hot scene during a break at work and your terrified that someone is reading over your shoulder lol).

My only negative comments about this book are these:

At one point I thought the book could have ended and then a mystery appeared.  While I was intrigued I was set up for the main characters “happy ever after as we know it.”  I felt that this turn of events could have happened a little earlier in the story however, I did enjoy the guessing game of a who-done-it plot.  I also had a few small questions that really aren’t important to the story as a whole like “is Donovan still attending school by the end?”

I would absolutely recommend Mrs. Rose’s book to anyone who loves a good romance novel and is looking for a quick read.  At a little less than 240 pages Ranae Rose will have you hooked.  If interested Mrs. Rose has chapter one and a playlist that inspired her as she was reading on her website.  I give this book an overall of 4 out of 5 stars.

This review was made by Kirasyn.  Everything in this review is my own opinion only.  This book was lent to me by Mamma D from her own collection.  The description of the book and the picture come from the author Ranae Rose’s website. Thanks!
