Montgomery Ink: Colorado Springs Series

Published February 19th 2019 by Carrie Ann Ryan

The Montgomery Ink: Colorado Springs series continues with a couple fighting to keep what they thought they had and gain what they didn’t know they needed.

Roxie Montgomery met her soul mate when she least expected it. When he asked her to marry him, she thought her happily ever after was only just beginning. Then, she found that walking into the sunset was much harder than her favorite books made it out to be. After a crushing loss, she feels as though she doesn’t know her husband anymore, or rather…she doesn’t know herself.

Carter Marshall has loved Roxie since the first time he saw her. But as the days pass between them, so does the distance. He doesn’t know how to show her that he’s all in, and honestly doesn’t know if she’s in at all. When an accident changes everything, they’ll have to decide if what they have can be salvaged, or if starting over is the answer. Or even possible.

Without fighting, without a true new beginning, sometimes, the remnants of what was lost can leave anyone jagged, shells of what they were before. It will take more than the idea of forever for Roxie and Carter to find themselves again, but as the Montgomerys know, nothing worth fighting for is easy.

4 Stars

As a long time reader of Ms. Ryan, I found Jagged Ink to be a different style of book for her but one I thoroughly enjoyed.

Jagged Ink spotlights Roxie Montgomery and Carter Marshall.  Readers of this Montgomery Ink spin off series have only seen Roxie and Carter as a couple and gotten a few glimpses of their life.  They both fell head over heels at first sight and set their live on the path to happily ever after. After a horrible accident and an unexpected event puts strain on the toughest of people. Questioning yourself can shake up a world in more ways than one. Making happy go to dark and grey very quickly.

Carter and Roxie are walking on a very bumpy road separately make their relationship turn into crumbles. In dealing with the hurt each is feeling they both fall into themselves. Breaking a bond they thought unbreakable. Or did they.  Jagged Ink show that a relationship is work. It’s not always pretty and passion. Communication is the key to any relationship. Sometimes something so bad happens it makes people forget the basics. Then the spiral happens. All seems broken and giving in seem the thing to do. Does distance really make the heart grow fonder?

What I loved about Jagged Ink- although I couldn’t relate to everything that Carter and Roxie went through there  were many aspects that I found similar from being in a long-term relationship. The amount of emotion with the pages is a roller coaster ride. You get the happiest of happy and the saddest of the sad.  Bad and good happen but Roxie and Carter found their way. There were moments I wanted to take them both by the shoulders and shake them both but they figured it out.

Roxie and Carter made me smile when I read the end.
